FrightFest Presents Review – Road Games (2015)

25 August 2016 7:15 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Road Games, 2015.

Directed by Abner Pastoll.

Starring Andrew Simpson, Joséphine de La Baume, Frédéric Pierrot, Barbara Crampton and Edward Hogg.

Synopsis:

Amidst reports of a serial killer riding the roads, a couple of hitchhikers in rural France accept a lift from a strange man.

A quick look at the title and the synopsis of Road Games is a good indicator of what you’re going to get from director Abner Pastoll’s debut feature film, because it immediately fills your mind with images of hitchhikers walking into a total bloodbath on some dingy backroad but once you’re on that journey with the two main characters you’ll find that things aren’t quite what they would at first appear to be and misdirection is the name of the (road) game.

Like all good thrillers should, Road Games gives you a sense of place and situation as it opens on »

Geoffrey Rush will play Albert Einstein

15 August 2016 10:14 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

National Geographic Channel is venturing into scripted series territory, and for their first drama, the cable network has cast Geoffrey Rush to play Albert Einstein. The Aussie will take on the role of the famed physicist for anthology drama Genius, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It will be Rush’s first major American series television role. (He did win an Emmy for HBO-bbc collaboration The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, a TV movie that aired in 2004.) The first season of the anthology series is based on the acclaimed Einstein biography by Walter Isaacson. Ron Howard is directing the first episode of Genius, and Howard’s longtime collaborator Brian Grazer is producing. The Oscar winner who so entertained us with Shakespeare in Love and Pirates of the Caribbean seems like a solid fit for the iconic scientist. He probably won’t even have to wear a wig for Einstein’s recognizable hair. »

Karl Urban Teases His Skurge Look in Thor: Ragnarok

25 July 2016 1:39 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

2016 certainly isn't anything like the old days of Marvel Studios. When they first started shooting Iron Man way back in 2007, they notoriously banned certain bloggers from sharing a single image from the set. Now, as Thor 3 continues production, it seems like we're getting some kind of update, photo or piece of viral footage everyday. We've seen leading man Chris Hemsworth joking around on set with director Taika Waititi. We've seen Mark Ruffalo showing off his larger-than-normal Hulk fists as he spends his time toiling away in motion capture Hell. And now today, we get a first look at star Karl Urban as he teases his new villainous Skurge look in Thor: Ragnarok.

The actor is heading to Queensland, Australia to shoot the movie. He shared the photo of his recently shaved head on Twitter. While he doesn't really provide any kind of update about what he'll be shooting first, »

Thor 3 Gets a New Ragnarok Logo

23 July 2016 7:26 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

When the official Comic-Con schedule was released a few weeks ago, there weren't many details about Marvel Studios' Hall H panel on Saturday. We already knew that Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 would be part of the festivities, thanks to social media updates from directors James Gunn and Scott Derrickson, but nothing else about the panel was known. Part of the festivities included the reveal of a new logo for Thor: Ragnarok, along with a unique skit put together by director Takika Waititi and a sizzle reel.

The logo debuted on Twitter, but we're not sure if this unique skit and will make its way online quite yet. The video is presented as a mini documentary that shows how stressed out Thor has become, and he has moved to New Zealand to become roommates with a guy named Darryl. There are scenes where Thor is talking with Bruce Banner, »

Star Trek is Doubling Down on Time Travel and Chris Hemsworth

18 July 2016 8:56 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Always pay extra for the upgraded Hemsworth model.

Before he was Thor for The Avengers, before he was racing and man-whoring for Ron Howard in Rush, and before he was the hilariously dim secretary in the new Ghostbusters movie, Chris Hemsworth made his big screen debut in the pre-credits scene of J.J. Abrams’ 2009 Star Trek reboot as the ill-fated George Kirk, the heroic and idealistic father of Chris Pine’s James T. Kirk.

Even though George didn’t make it past the opening logo of that first movie, his legacy has loomed over the rest of the franchise — his father’s heroism a driving force, for better or worse, for Captain Kirk. It’s something explored in the most recent trailer for Justin Lin’s upcoming entry, Star Trek Beyond.

12 July 2016 9:39 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

As you may know, Thor: Ragnarok is currently shooting in Queensland, Australia. Over the course of the past two weeks, we've seen star Chris Hemsworth offer a look at the set, his own private roller coaster and the hilarious prank he pulled on new director Taika Waititi. Now Mark Ruffalo is getting in on the fun. He's shared a behind-the-scenes video. And it proves that Hulk is back, and he's angry!

Courtesy of Twitter, Mark Ruffalo shows off the biggest pair of Hulk hands you've ever seen as he Hulks out on set. We're not sure how much Bruce Banner will be present in the movie, especially since most of it takes place in the cosmos. Though we do know that Bruce and Hulk will struggle to come to terms with each other, and one of the side stories will see the Awol scientist trying to deal with his big green alter ego. »
