MISSION & OBJECTIVE
Bath Film Festival is a showcase for the most creative, intelligent, and thought provoking new films and film events in the South West of England, providing opportunities for new film makers and reaching a diverse audience from the local area and beyond.

Our mission is to help make Bath a centre of film excellence.

The 24th Bath Film Festival will take place in Bath in 2014.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Now one of the most popular festivals in the region, Bath Film Festival was born 24 years ago.

In 1990, Bath Film Society screened a handful of French films. They were so successful that the society was left with £50 profit. Buoyed up by this, Chris Baker approached local businessman and film buff, Philip Raby and the three cinemas which were in Bath at the time and suggested a film festival. £1,800 was raised and in 1991 Bath Film Festival was born.

Since then, locations have changed and been added to, eminent industry names have given their patronage and film distributors have recognised that Bath Film Festival is a great outlet for previews of their upcoming gems.

As well as previews and Bath debuts, the festival is known for its range of feature documentaries and annual ‘Sound to Silent’ feature where we commission a musician to compose and perform original music for a silent film.

Of course, Bath Film Festival is more than a great programme of films, we also promote emerging talent and host industry workshops, run an awards scheme (in association with IMDb) and take Movie On the Move into rural areas, care homes and schools.

Our 'Big Picture' plan for the future is to establish a creative hub in Bath encompassing film and film education as well as the creative and digital industries, all under one roof, collaborating, coexisting and inspiring one another. We will build it...
