Sonny Bill Williams has done it again – this time at the Hong Kong Sevens. The New Zealand star has given away his runners-up mug to a young fan, just like he did with the 15s World Cup gold medal at Twickenham last year.

Tan Guerin writes on her Facebook page that Williams was walking back after New Zealand lost 21-7 to Fiji in the Hong Kong Sevens final and her group asked him for a selfie. Not only did he oblige but he also gave his runners-up trinket to eight-year-old fan Coop Rodda, according to posts.

“Ok, so yesterday Sonny Bill Williams signed Coops autograph book and we were absolutely thrilled!!!

I called out to Sonny to have a selfie with us. Not only did he take the selfie, he gave Coops his runner up cup!!!! What a bloody legend!!!

“Can I tell you what he did today... NZ lost to Fiji in HK 7’s and after they collected their own runner up cups, the team walked past us and I called out to Sonny to have a selfie with us. Not only did he take the selfie, he gave Coops his runner up cup!!!! What a bloody legend!!!”

After last year’s World Cup victory over Australia, Williams was taking a lap of honour with the All Blacks team when a young fan jumped over the barriers and ran towards the players.

The fan, 14-year-old Charlie Line, was tackled to the ground by security before he could reach the All Blacks but Williams comforted the boy and gave him his medal.

New Zealand media has complimented Williams on yet another act of kindness
