"Eve Online" TV Series Moving Forward?

25 April 2016 12:28 PM, PDT

First talked about several years ago, plans for a TV series based on the massive sci-fi Mmo game "Eve Online" seem to finally be moving forward.

Hilmar Veigar Petursson, CEO of developer Ccp Games, told Wired this week that the studio along with filmmaker Ridley Scott are "actively working" on a serialised TV adaptation of the popular game:

"We're actually exploring that with Ridley Scott's production company and Baltasar Kormakur, an Icelandic director. We're actively working on that. I think we have some traction on it. It's a very big idea obviously – doing a television series is something that takes years to get going. I think House of Cards took around seven years to get going."

Development on the TV series had stalled in recent years due to Ccp putting their focus on expanding the core game and experimenting with virtual reality. Now, with those completed, their attention seems »

Nathan Fillion's "Guardians 2" Cameo Revealed

25 April 2016 9:53 AM, PDT

After making an uncredited guest appearance on the first film, "Firefly" and "Castle" star Nathan Fillion is re-teaming with his "Slither" director James Gunn for a bigger part in the latter's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" for Marvel Studios.

Spoilers Ahead

Photos from the set of the 'Guardians' sequel have revealed the part which the actor will play in the film and it's quietly brilliant. Seems there's a scene involving an Earth-based art house cinema which is running a film marathon of movies involving an actor named Simon Williams (Fillion).

This allows Fillion to pose for a series of one-sheets for movies that exist within the McU, including a Tony Stark biopic in which Fillion's Simon Williams is playing Stark.

Marvel comics fans will also recognise the name - Simon Williams is also known as former villain turned Avengers hero Wonder Man. At one point he retired from the »

Big Names On "Twin Peaks" Cast List Of 217

25 April 2016 9:43 AM, PDT

The new "Twin Peaks" isn't slated to debut on Showtime until 2017, but a flurry of speculation about it happened last week with a tweet from Go For Locations indicating that filming had wrapped on the "first two seasons" of the series.

The episode count for the David Lynch-directed series was always in question, but that tweet suggested we'd be getting even more episodes than originally planned. Said tweet has since been deleted, so we'll have to wait to see how that pans out.

in the meantime in more official news, Showtime, Lynch and Mark Frost has released the official cast list for the new series with a whopping 217 names across the various episodes - a list that includes some real surprise big name inclusions such as Monica Bellucci, Michael Cera, Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Eddie Vedder, Ashley Judd, Ernie Hudson, Jim Belushi, Richard Chamberlain, Laura Dern, »

"Doctor Strange" Scribe On Ancient One Casting

25 April 2016 9:41 AM, PDT

C. Robert Cargill, the "Sinister" scribe and the co-writer behind Marvel Studios' upcoming "Doctor Strange" film, says that no way the studio could avoid upsetting audiences in regards to the cast of The Ancient One role in the movie.

The character has traditionally been an elderly Asian man, but when it came time to cast the film it was tall, caucasian actress Tilda Swinton that scored the role. It was a left field casting choice that has been met by good reaction in some circles for smashing stereotypes, but bad in others for it being yet another case of Hollywood whitewashing.

Speaking with Double Toasted podcast, Cargill drops a "Star Trek" reference in his explanation as to why they couldn't win whatever choice they made:

"There is no other character in Marvel history that is such a cultural landmine, that is absolutely unwinnable. I've been reading a bunch of people talking about it, »

"Game of Thrones" Piracy Continues, But Slows

25 April 2016 9:39 AM, PDT

Despite a free preview being offered by HBO this past weekend, more than a million people have already downloaded the season premiere of the network's fantasy drama "Game of Thrones" which continues to be hotly traded on torrent networks.

The show reportedly leaked online shortly before its debut on Sunday night and it was hoped that standalone app service HBO Now would cut back on some of the pirating done by mobile viewers and cord-cutters. The new season also debuted across many international territories simultaneously with the same hope.

It may have worked. While piracy of the show is currently heavy, it is reportedly behind the pace of the premiere of last season at the same point in time. The 'Thrones' series overall is reputed to be the most pirated television show ever - an estimated eight million people watched the season five premiere live while 13 million people downloaded the episode. »
