Cantinas of Mérida
A month ago, we left our lives in London behind to go out and taste the world. A one-way ticket to Mexico saw us land in the Yucatán peninsula, where we discovered the Cuban cantinas of Mérida, which serve free, freshly cooked food with each drink.

Street food in Valladolid
In Valladolid plaza, we sampled our first elotes: roasted corn skewered on a stick and rubbed with salt, lime, mayonnaise and sprinkled with chilli and fresh cheese. Esquites are corn kernels cooked in chicken broth and the epazote herb. -
Mangoes as bright as the walls
Exploring the streets of Valladolid, we tried fresh mangoes as vibrant in colour as the walls. The vendors are mostly Mayan women in traditional dresses.
