New York (AP) -- The musicals "An American in Paris'' and "Fun Home'' each received a leading 12 Tony Award nominations on Tuesday, showing two very different sides of this Broadway season. One side is sunny -- the dance-heavy stage adaptation of the 1951 musical film with George and Ira Gerswin songs, and the other moody -- the dark show based on Alison Bechdel's coming of age graphic novel about her closeted and suicidal dad. "It's nice to know if something's good, there's room for it,'' said Max von Essen, who earned a nomination for featured actor in a musical in "American in Paris.'' "There's room for a smaller, darker piece and there's room for a big, show-stopping revival show with Gershwin.'' Michael Cerveris got one of the dozen nods for "Fun Home,'' as best leading actor in a musical, and hopes that will attract more people »

Empire is huge. Massive. A phenomenon. The drama kicked off in the States earlier this year and quickly established itself as one of the biggest things on the box (seriously - over 23 million people tuned in to its finale last month. Twenty-three Million).
Now, we're finally getting a chance to see the show in the UK courtesy of E4, but is it worth the hype? Yes... and here are 7 reasons why you should be tuning in to the show...
1. The story is rooted in family - but we're talking mad, crazy, Dynasty-style family.
Make no bones about it - Empire is a soap. We're talking high glamour and high nonsense; it's a glossy whirlwind with surprise twists and 'rich people problems'. But while there's a shiny sheen to the whole thing, given that it's set in the world of hip-hop royalty, it's also firmly rooted in family.

She's working it! Since announcing her pregnancy on Feb. 24, Naya Rivera's red carpet style has been a sight to behold. This past weekend was no exception as the Glee actress, 28, stepped out in two amazing looks. On Friday, April 24, Rivera, who's expecting her first child with new husband Ryan Dorsey, proved that maternity can be sexy by slipping into a skintight Wolford ensemble for The Creative Coalition 2015 Benefit Dinner in Washington D.C. Rivera made magic in the body-shaper brand's black "Fatal Dress" ($210, [...] »

Some critics derided Avengers: Age of Ultron as bloated, bombastic and nonsensical, but Australian moviegoers clearly dismissed or didn.t read the reviews
The Marvel blockbuster directed by Joss Whedon captured $15.7 million last weekend and $17.1 million including Wednesday night previews.
That.s the third biggest 4-day opening of all time behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
The superhero adventure starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo eclipsed the 2012 debut of The Avengers, which raked in $13.3 million.
To be fair, the original opened on a Wednesday, Anzac Day, making $6 million on that day, and finished up with a towering $53.2 million.
The Disney release accounted for a whopping 71% of the entire market as nationwide receipts shot up by 34% to $22.1 million, according to Rentrak.s estimates. The four-day tally was up 18.5% on last year.

The White House Correspondents' Dinner is the only event where you'll see the stars from "The Walking Dead," "Game of Thrones" mingling with YouTube sensations, politicians, supermodels and yes, even the President of the United States. It's one of the most random events of the year -- and last night's soiree was no different. The stars turned out in their most killer couture for the so-called "nerd prom," with Chrissy Teigen showing some serious leg and some cleavage in a stunning Zuhair Murad gown. Seriously, how gorgeous does John Legend's wife look? Naya Rivera used the occasion to show off her growing baby bump, glowing in a white Tadashi Shoji dress that accentuated her big belly. The "Glee" star and husband Ryan Dorsey are currently expecting their first child together. Other red carpet stunners included "Orange Is the New Black" star Laverne Cox and Mrs. Channing Tatum herself, Jenna Dewan-Tatum. »

Does anyone know what just happened? Britain's Got Talent possibly had one of its most bonkers episodes ever tonight, thanks to a hypnotic dog (sure), a man dressed as a nun on a motorised piano, and Simon Cowell actually being nice. What the hell was that about?
Look, Bgt has always had its odder moments, but for good portions of this episode we wondered whether we'd fallen asleep and dreamt the whole crazy thing.
Where do we begin? How about at the start, with Musical Ruth... also known as Matthew Hunt. Musical Ruth was the aforementioned male nun who drove a piano round the stage singing 'Give Me Oil In My Lamp', which we genuinely haven't heard since we were sat cross-legged in assembly 15 years ago.
Obviously, Simon buzzed immediately ("It was one of the worst acts I think I've seen on this show") but David couldn't resist a ride on the piano. »

We saw a trio of posters last week, and now Entertainment Weekly has debuted four first look images from Scream Queens, the upcoming horror-comedy anthology series from Glee creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan…
“Brad and Ian and I, all three of us, were always obsessed with the ’80s/early ’90s slasher genre that was always about young people and always about coming of age,” states Murphy. “So we loved that and we decided to sort of be inspired by that idea. That was sort of the impetus of it. It’s sort of the idea of what would happen if you put something like Heathers meets Friday the 13th to those genre pictures like Massacre on Sorority Row, that early-to-late ’80s exploitation horror thing. I really like the idea of doing a comedy and doing sort of anthological comedy. What I love about it is when it’s funny, »

Laughter with friends is truly the best medicine. Not long after Ariana Grande and Big Sean publicly confirmed their split, the "Love Me Harder" songstress has apparently been spending quality time with her Scream Queens co-star Lea Michele. The brunette beauties can be seen hysterically laughing while singing the Spice Girls hit "Wannabe" using the Crazy Heliumbooth app, which alters your voice as well as the shape of your face. Forget the prehistoric days of having to rely on balloons in order to achieve that hilarious high-pitched chipmunk sound. "So much love for this lady... @ArianaGrande," tweeted the 28-year-old former Glee star. Grande and Michele are among the »

Ryan Murphy’s upcoming anthology horror, Scream Queens, has operated thus far under the cover of darkness. It’s not hard to see why, either. Everything Murphy puts his hand to turns to gold and Fox wants to keep a lid on his next bout of genius. From Glee to American Horror Story his unique approach to television narratives is refreshingly lapped up by appreciative audiences and critics. And now, Murphy has opened up about some of the campus comedy’s inner workings, along with revealing the first official photos from the show.
Thus far, we’ve only been clued in to the vague outline of the series: a campus-set horror comedy about a series of killings. In a new interview, Murphy has gone one step further, describing it as a “real murder mystery whodunit” in the vein of “Heathers meets Friday the 13th.” He goes »

Finally! Someone has made a mashup of iconic Disney songs and legendary '90s R&B hits. Finally. Even if you haven't been wishing for that (which we find odd), you still want to watch this amazing video. It comes from American Idol finalist Todrick Hall, who you may know from his past Disney videos like "Spell Block Tango," which featured Adam Lambert and Glee's Amber Riley or "Cinderfella," which was a brand new take on the story of Cinderella that also starred Lance Bass. Hall teamed up with Broadway star Shoshana Bean to weave together songs like Ginuwine's "Pony" with The Little Mermaid's "Part of Your World" and "Poor Unfortunate Souls." Our »
