First of all I want to remind all that they are not to expect an HD version of this classic. It is clearly stated on the back. All the previous reviewers, I thought, were misled in believing so. What you get instead, is a more condensed version of the DVD; in 7 Blue Rays they come a very handy, portable set. The blu rays come in beautiful separate cases( 2 discs per case) and with a Gita press bilingual edition of Gita, s good addition for the foreigners and a 3D photo of the famous scene.
Contents apart, the Blu Rays are a development over both the CD and moserbear DVD set. I can say this, as I have both of them and have compared them to this BDs. The sound quality is far better, digitized and restored. It also has three audio options and subtitles. The video is also improved with more gloss and grain. But I have to admit here, that it could have been a bit better. That said, we have to understand that it will not be anything better than this in any future. The series was made for TV and not shot on film, so we can't expect a restoration better than this, as is the case with foreign TV shows like the Jeremy Brett version of Sherlock Holmes. Blue rays of Mahabharata will remain as more of a matter of convenience than quality. So, better grab a copy of this, play it on your HD TV( it will look a bit grainy, but would remind you of your childhood days and make happy), and be transported to the world of myths when Gods mingled freely with Men.
To sum up, I repeat that the audio being much improved and the video also being upscaled and improved, this set becomes a tressure. It is in 16:9 full frame format, and includes the making. Enjoy.

Disappointed!!! This Blu-Ray set have the same video transfer as DVD set. I grew up watching Mahabharat on doordarshan and don't think Mahabharata looked and sound this bad. Reliance has done a very poor job on this blu-Ray set, do not waste your money. This is a fine example, where consumers should expercise their best judgement buying old or classic movies on blu-rays.

Best quality at the price. Also Amazon.in send to me very fast and picture quality is best for my 21 inch full HD television.

I purchased this mahabharat version and i m very disappointed with this .video quality is horribal .if any body want to see sample contact me on 9702889525 . IF ANYBODY HAVE PURCHESED 3000 WALA VERSION PLS LET ME KNOW U R REVIEWS .also have devo ke dev mahadev &mahabharat; starplus dvd set can call or whatsapp for quality chk
