After being recruited to a secretive academy, a group of students discover that the magic they read about as children is very real and more dangerous than they ever imagined. But will getting hooked on the thrill of magic distract them from honing their powers when they need them most?
The Magicians has been a TV series that as neither gain my full approval, neither my full rejection. I'm still assimilating it all.
One thing this show isn't afraid is to tackle some hard topics. Or exploring the viewer tolerance. The characters can at the same time be interesting or frustrating. They can say and do the most profound things and in the next episode they can irritate me to no end.
I guess at least it as shown the potential to affect what I see. But it still seems all so strange and so planned ahead. It all seems predestined to happen. Like the characters themselves have little to no choice in what's happening to them.
I got to applaud the work of the main actors and actresses. They have without a doubt been up to the task. And it hasn't been a easy task. Sometimes I just want to quit seeing it, but other times it pulls at me and grabs me to my seat.
It has been quite the experience so far, and in a way I fear that's what's holding me to it. The fact that it all seems so strange that I can't help but try to understand it. But I fear the moment I do understand it all will be the moment this series will lose all appeal to me.
I guess only time will tell if it really something I'll treasure for having seen it in the first place, or if I'll come to curse that day. Time will tell...
