Showtime Cancels ‘Episodes’ After 5 Seasons

12 hours ago | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Showtime will end “Episodes” after its upcoming fifth season, TheWrap has learned. “‘Episodes” scathing portrait of network executives has kept me on my best behavior these last several years, for which I am grudgingly grateful to Jeffrey and David,” said Gary Levine, Showtime’s president of programming. “I love this show and can’t wait to see what comic heights Matt and company will scale during the fifth and final season of our inspired series.” The series stars Matt LeBlanc as a fictionalized version of himself. Since its debut in 2011, “Episodes” has received 10 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. »

Louis C.K. ‘Millions of Dollars’ in Debt Over ‘Horace & Pete’

10 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The big bet that Louis C.K. made on “Horace & Pete” has not paid off.

The comic told radio host Howard Stern on Monday that he lost “millions of dollars” over season 1 of the drama series, which premiered unannounced on his website LouisCK.net in January. Low sales for the first four episodes, which C.K. has sold a la carte for $5 a piece, forced him to take a line of credit out to complete subsequent episodes. C.K. claimed that each roughly hour-long episode of the series costs about $500,000 to make.

Asked by Stern whether he had sought any outside financial backing for the show, C.K. said, “Nah, I don’t do that.” Instead, he said, he is relying on a publicity push that includes television appearances and an Emmy campaign to drive viewers to the show, and to his website. “I believe that … by the summer, the show will have paid itself off, »

In the last few years Nate has ventured out more into deep field work. In this week’s episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, Nate goes a little too deep in an undercover assignment to the point that his colleagues question his own psyche. The Mindy Project Review: A New Chapter Begins

3 hours ago | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

The Mindy Project returned with some shocking twists to kick off the second half of season 4 on Hulu. Mindy’s voiceover caught us up to speed with the reasons why this has been the best and simultaneously worst year of her life, and the end result is a doozy. Mindy and Danny are officially broken up. The episode title “Will They or Won’t They” only teases us because we all know they did, and they’re done. For now or for good, either way it’s not pretty. Seeing Danny leave the practice and hearing Mindy’s been crying simply walking by his

Scorpion Review: Fort Knox, meet Team Scorpion

Fort Knox, the infamous gold and priceless artifact depository in the United States and Team Scorpion is going to break into it in this week’s episode of Scorpion. Oh, and Ralph is going to defend his case against the thieving professor who failed him and stole the young geniuses’ work with Heywood as his lawyer. When Tim came into the garage with Agent Cook from the Department of Defense during the beginning of the episode, I had a sinking feeling that something was afoot after hearing that the latter wanted Team Scorpion to break into Fort Knox off the books.

Jane the Virgin Review: Jane’s Disastrous Bachelorette Party

3 hours ago | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

It’s hard for Jane the Virgin to be a cautionary tale kind of a story. After all, you can’t exactly caution against getting accidentally artificially inseminated. Every other part of life is fair game though, and Jane was all about the caution when she envisioned her bachelorette party. You know what they say about best laid plans… Jane doesn’t lose control very often, but when she does it’s not pretty. She chooses to plan out every detail of her bachelorette party so that nothing goes wrong. Unfortunately Xiomara and Lena have no intention of sending Jane off into her married

Supergirl Season 1 Episode 19 Review: ”Myriad”

5 hours ago | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

While there have been way too many random breaks during the first season of Supergirl, the show finally returned this week as Supergirl faces her biggest challenge so far as Non and Indigo brainwashed the citizens of National City. Something that is also introduced in this episode, besides the Myriad weapon, is the DC Comics character Maxima, a villain who I have wanted to see on the show since the start. While I wasn’t familiar with Eve Torres Gracie before this, from the little I have read of Maxima in the comics, along with my knowledge from Superman: The Animated

Castle Recap: I Dream of Genie

5 hours ago | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

This week’s episode of Castle was the sort that test some viewers’ patience, diving as deep as “fantasy-augmented” Rick did off the deep end of reality. But if you, like me, are the kind of longtime fan who allows the show a lotta leniency those one or two times a season, you had to appreciate how this episode went all in with the “magic lamp” tale.

Blindspot Review: “Mans Telepathic Loyal Lookouts”

6 hours ago | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

I make it pretty obvious that Patterson is my favorite character on Blindspot, so I’ve been hyped up for this episode focusing on her since the previews last week. With that said, let’s take a look at what happened in tonight’s new episode, “Mans Telepathic Loyal Lookouts.” The episode opens with Patterson realizing, after her “conversation” with David, that her deceased boyfriend solved one of Jane’s tattoos in secret. After this realization, she, of course, decides that she’s going to follow his clues and figure it out on her own. The journey that she takes in the episode is wonderfully compelling,

Dancing With the Stars Week 4 Recap: Did the Right Couple Go Home?

6 hours ago | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

It’s fitting that the latest installment of Dancing With the Stars was the series’ annual Disney week, because some routines were absolute beauties, while others were complete beasts.

Tinkerbell dumped heaps of fairy dust on the usual suspects (Nyle Dimarco, Ginger Zee), leaving competitors like Doug Flutie to stumble about like hippos in search of their tutus. Still others, like an exuberant Kim Fields and a stately Von Miller, found their inner zip-a-dee-doo-dah and turned in performances that greatly improved upon previous weeks’ showings.

Supergirl Recap: Sister Act

You could put Supergirl under the Black Mercy’s spell a dozen times, or pump her full of Red Kryptonite, and you still wouldn’t wind up in an alternate universe where she willingly works alongside Cat Grant and Maxwell Lord.

But desperate times call for desperate measures, as seen in the CBS drama’s penultimate Season 1 episode. With most of National City succumbing to Non’s new initiative, Kara faces a whole — forgive me — myriad of problems in Monday’s installment, forcing her to align with Max and Cat, the only two denizens who aren’t affected by the signal. »

The Magicians Recap: Fillory of Fear

7 hours ago | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Raise your hand if you’re going to have nightmares after Monday’s The Magicians.

The Season 1 finale featured so many disturbing images and twists — not to mention, some purely weird ones — that I need a hedge witch memory patch of my own so I’m not haunted tonight. (I haven’t read the books, so I don’t know how much of the installment came from the producers’ imaginations and how much was pulled from the source material, but either way, you can’t deny that the Syfy series is ballsy.)

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Review: No Josh Means More Fun!

After sixteen episodes of Rebecca obsessing over Josh, she finally threw in the towel – or threw out the Chan-bear, as it were – and went for Greg. We saw a new side of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and it was glorious. Josh had great character development this episode; turns out, he’s a real person, not just Rebecca’s perfect object of affection. When he blurts out “Josh can be in a bad mood!”, he’s not just explaining that to Valencia – he’s also explaining that to us, the audience. Of course, we’ve seen that he isn’t 100% perfect in previous episodes, but

Gotham Season 2 Episode 17 Review: ”Into the Woods”

We are entering the last block of episodes for Season 2 of Gotham and things are continuing to pace even faster as Penguin’s family situation gets messy while Gordon continues to try and clear his name. I feel really mixed with this episode because while it’s not a weak episode at all as we get some really powerful moments, I feel the pacing is maybe getting a little bit out of hand. In the past few episodes we have seen the writers setting multiple interesting arcs for most of these characters. We finally got to see Penguin meet his father,

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Sneak Peek: 24's Dennis Haysbert Helps Plan a Heist

8 hours ago | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

This week’s episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will introduce us to FBI Agent Bob Anderson, an old pal of Capt. Holt’s — and it’s very easy to see why they’re friends.

Played by 24 vet Dennis Haysbert, Anderson is nearly identical to Holt in every way, right down to their silky-smooth voices. Their only difference? As seen in our exclusive sneak peek from Tuesday’s installment (Fox, 9/8c), Anderson is way more willing to humor Jake’s absurd ideas, much to Holt’s chagrin.
