Leonard Part 6: Bill Cosby
Cosby became the first person to ever accept a Razzie Award, when his three statues were presented to him on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Fox Broadcasting Company had honored Cosby's request for his statues to be replicated (from the plastic originals) in gold and marble, at a cost of $30,000. Cosby later stated "I said to my publicist when I got the word, 'I want my Golden Raspberry and if it isn't golden, I'm going to the press.' My publicist called back and said they were upset, that they said they were just a little outfit operating out of one room. They tried to cop out. But if you take a big name and you say 'worst,' you have to perform. So they came up with the trophies and I got them on a show on the Fox network. It was a lot of fun to do, because they weren't serious and had never been called on it by anyone who got a Razzie."
