With the brand-new animated version of Dr. Seuss' seminal children's book heading to us next November, a new Grinch is coming, and he's got a rather magnificent voice to herald his return. We're excited to announce that Benedict Cumberbatch has been cast as The Grinch for the 2017 holiday event film! This late breaking news comes to us from our own Eric Eisenberg, who's on the ground at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. The announcement was made during Universal's presentation at the famed convention, where scoops have been dropping all over the place.  And to commemorate their casting, Universal released the following tweet, which also shows us our first look at the latest incarnation of The GrinchBenedict Cumberbatch »

Captain America: Civil War is kicking off Marvel.s Phase Three months, and by all accounts, it.s going to be brutal. Disney's Making A Live-Action Peter Pan, Because Pan Taught Them Nothing

Disney has been on a tear recently with remaking their classic animated movies into live action features. Maleficent and Cinderella have already come out, The Jungle Book hits theaters on Friday and numerous others are in varying stages of development. Now we can add one more to that large list, as despite the critical and commercial failure of the Warner Bros prequel Pan, Disney is making their own live action Peter Pan movie. The House of Mouse has hired Pete’s Dragon director David Lowery to helm their Peter Pan movie. According to Deadline, Lowery will co-write the script with Toby Halbrooks, who he worked with on the Pete’s Dragon live action remake. Disney’s animated Peter Pan movie came out in 1953, and over 70 years later, it remains one of the studio’s most well-known entries. This would be the latest of several live action »

Spider-Man May Have Found The Perfect Actor To Play The Film's Villain

Spider-Man’s making is way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe next month in Captain America: Civil War, but attention is already pointed towards the Web-Slinger’s new movie next year. Yesterday, it was officially announced that the title of the movie will be Spider-Man: Homecoming, and less than 24 hours later, it’s now being reported that Michael Keaton is being eyed to join for a major role. According to Variety, the actor is in "early talks" to play a villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming, though they didn’t provide any hints as to who this might be. Of course, given someone of Keaton’s stature, it’s likely he would be the main antagonist, as opposed to an underling. If he takes the role, Keaton would join a cast that so far consists of Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Marisa Tomei as »

The Upper Hand Harley Quinn Has On Her Suicide Squad Teammates

Harley Quinn is best known to the world for her antics opposite her beloved, psychotic significant other, The Joker, but that description ignores a big part of who she is. Before being driven mad and falling in love, Harley Quinn was Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a psychiatrist who worked closely with the Joker during a stay at Arkham Asylum. Fortunately, this isn.t a part of the character that.s forgotten in Suicide Squad, and is instead put to great use . as the beloved anti-hero is regularly able to use her knowledge of the mind to screw with her teammates in the titular group. On Tuesday afternoon, I had the pleasure of having a quick chat with Margot Robbie on a press line before the Warner Bros. presentation at CinemaCon . the annual convention held in Las Vegas for theater owners . and it was while chatting about her way into Harley Quinn »

Why Geena Davis Thinks She'll Have To Sit Out Of Beetlejuice 2

Few films from the 1980s have developed a legacy quite as bizarre as Tim Burton.s beloved classic, Beetlejuice. The film defied the trappings of genre and made bona fide stars out of Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis and Michael Keaton. However, while Michael Keaton, and Tim Burton will once again team up for a long-awaited sequel, don.t expect Geena Davis to show up in the film. The actress recently revealed that she hasn.t been approached to take part in Beetlejuice 2, and the reasons have to do with the logic of the paranormal.   During a recent phone interview with radio personality Tony Loconsole, Geena Davis admitted that she doesn.t think she will take part in the upcoming Beetlejuice 2:   No I keep reading about it, but I have never heard anything about it, but you know I hope so too, it's a great idea. I don't »

The Story Behind C-3Po's Red Arm Finally Has Been Revealed

One of the most heart-warming moments of Star Wars: The Force Awakens was seeing C-3Po back on the big screen once again. But when he appeared, everyone immediately noticed that there was one huge difference to the droid. He suddenly had a red arm. Obviously with so much going on in The Force Awakens there wasn.t time to explain what happened to C-3Po. But your minds can now be put to rest, because we.ve finally learned exactly how C-3Po lost his arm. And, as you probably expected, it.s a doozy of a story. The details surrounding C-3Po.s injury were revealed in the Marvel one-shot comic Star Wars: C-3Po #1, which was created by James Robinson, Tony Harris, and Joe Caramagna. You can actually check out some pages from Star Wars: C-3Po #1 by heading over to io9. Rather obviously, there »

Suicide Squad's Biggest Secret Remains Intact, According To David Ayer

At this point, we.ve seen three very different trailers for Suicide Squad, each one establishing not only the tone of the blockbuster, but also giving us a peek at how we can expect the large ensemble of villains to interact with each other as they team up on a black ops mission for the government. That being said, the details of that black ops mission remain the film.s best kept secret, and while there have been many rumors swirling around over the last few years, writer/director David Ayer told us that we have not yet heard an accurate report about the job that the titular group has been hired to do. Prior to Tuesday afternoon.s Warner Bros. presentation at CinemaCon . the annual convention held in Las Vegas for theater owners . I had the pleasure of chatting with David Ayer about his new movie on a press »

Suicide Squad Recut With The Friends Theme Song Is Surprisingly Appropriate

Despite the fact that it centers upon a group of super villains, this summer’s Suicide Squad looks like an absolutely rip-roaring good time. Unlike the dreary Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it’s full of colorful, energetic characters who seem to coalesce nicely into a cohesive unit. If that formula sounds familiar, that’s because one could also use it to describe the classic NBC sitcom Friends. Some astute folks on the Internet seem to have picked up on this, and decided to recut Suicide Squad with the Friends theme. Check it out below.   Coming to us courtesy of Movie Trailer Trash (great name by the way) the Suicide Squad video takes already released footage from the highly anticipated a Warner Bros. movie and recuts it to the beat of the iconic Friends theme song. Throughout the course of then video we see the »

The Jungle Book Honest Trailer Reminds Us Of The Disney Cartoon's Many Faults

Most self-respecting Disney fans maintain some fond memories of The Jungle Book, but how fondly should we really look back on the 1967 animated film? It’s considered a classic, and serves as the inspiration for this weekends awesome looking update, but you likely haven’t really given it a thorough viewing lately. Luckily for us, the folks at Screen Junkies have crafted an Honest Trailer for The Jungle Book to hilariously remind us of the movie’s flaws. Check out the video below to see for yourself.     Released on YouTube courtesy of the always-reliable Screen Junkies, the above video absolutely lays into the classic 1967 animated incarnation of Disney’s The Jungle Book. How Cable Will Affect Deadpool 2

Just like the typical superhero movie post-credits scene, Deadpool’s back in February set up a future plot point, albeit in a Ferris Bueller’s Day Off setting. The Merc with the Mouth informed moviegoers that Cable will be appearing in Deadpool 2, bringing perhaps Marvel’s oddest couple together in live action for the first time. While it remains to be seen who will play the cinematic version of Cable, it sounds like his straight-laced personality will continue provide the traditional foil seen in the comics for the sequel. Although the Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were cagey over how Deadpool 2’s progress is coming along, Resse explained to Hitfix how Cable’s serious demeanor contrasting with Deadpool’s eccentricity will make a fun dynamic for the sequel. In his words: There's a lot of fun in that he's very »

10 Classic Cartoon Characters We Need To See In The Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe

It.s quite possible that we have now crossed the franchise event horizon. All properties that are capable of being turned into a "cinematic universe" will now see it done. We know that this has happened because the Warner Animation Group, a division of Warner Bros, announced at Cinemacon this week that they were interested in "unlocking the whole Hanna-Barbera Universe" beginning with a new Scooby-Doo movie slated for 2018. So, who will join Scooby-Doo in the Hanna-Barbera universe? Hanna Barbera.s list of cartoons is absolutely massive. It honestly probably rivals Marvel when it comes to simply the sheer volume of characters that they have created over the years. But, if we.re going to do this, let.s do it right. Here are 10 other Hanna-Barbera characters that we want to see in future movies. Who did we forget? Yogi Bear The Yogi Bear movie needs to happen for a »

The Next Scooby-Doo Update Could Make Way For A Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe

Sometimes news can be both surprising and unsurprising. While no-one really expected a new Scooby-Doo film to be announced, the fact that it has and that Warner Bros. have decided to announce plans for a fully-fledged Hanna Barbera cinematic universe seemed inevitable. Especially since the studio just can.t seem to help themselves when it comes to extended franchises. Entertainment Weekly have confirmed that Warner Bros. are currently developing a Scooby Doo reboot with director Tony Cervone that is bizarrely entitled S.C.O.O.B. This announcement was made at CinemaCon, with Warner Bros. confirming that S.C.O.O.B. will be their "first shot at unlocking the whole Hanna-Barbera Universe."  Obviously this means that Warner Bros. plan on following up S.C.O.O.B. with a number of other films, which will then almost certainly overlap and crossover into each other. This could include The Flintstones, »

How The Wasp Will Grow In Ant-Man 2, According To The Director

Hope van Dyne was a key player last year in Ant-Man, but unlike Scott Lang, she never got to don her own shrinking costume. Fortunately, during the mid-credits scene, her father, Hank Pym, finally unveiled her very own Wasp costume. Hope will be suiting up in 2018 for Ant-Man and the Wasp, and the sequel will see her growing into that fully-formed superhero we’ve been waiting to see. During the Captain America: Civil War red carpet premiere last night, Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed explained to EW how Hope’s role in the first movie will guide her into her new role as the Wasp and how she operates. He said: Evangeline is an amazing actress. The first movie was really about her coming into her own as a hero, even though we didn’t see her suit up yet. So we’re so »

Check Out Mark Hamill And Daisy Ridley Recreating A Classic Star Wars Scene On Set

With the size and scope of the new Star Wars movies, one assumes that making them is a great deal of work. While that.s certainly true, luckily, it doesn.t mean there isn.t the opportunity for the cast and crew to have fun.  As it turns out, it was Daisy Ridley.s birthday on Sunday, and as a "gift," Mark Hamill shared this image of what the two of them apparently get up to when nobody is looking. A long time ago (last week I think) In a galaxy far, far way(@PinewoodStudios ) This happened! Happy Birthday Daisy! pic.twitter.com/dYc9j65YBD. Mark Hamill (@HamillHimself) April 10, 2016 As all indications are that Rey will begin some kind of Jedi training under Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode VIII, it would make sense that Luke would train her in much the same way that he was trained by »

The Jungle Book Looks Like It's About To Have A Gigantic Opening Weekend

2016 has been a good year for Disney so far. They started out with on their biggest animated films in years with Zootopia. The movie has done huge box office numbers and is nearly universally loved by critics. If past is prologue, the studio may be about to repeat that success. The Jungle Book has been receiving equally glowing reviews, and it’s now set up to have an equally big opening weekend. Estimates are putting it somewhere in the range of $70 million. Last weekend the Melissa McCarthy comedy The Boss was able to slightly edge out Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to win the weekend box office but as both films have received poor reviews it’s unlikely either will see a strong weekend coming up. That leaves The Jungle Book ready to pounce on a wide open box office. According to Variety, The Jungle Book is »

Why Jared Leto Sent His Suicide Squad Costars Used Condoms

We’ve already heard many of the stories about the things that Jared Leto got up to on the set of Suicide Squad. However, apparently we haven’t heard all the stories. What’s more, we finally have a chance to hear from the man himself, out of character, talk about exactly what he was up to. The man who will be the big screen’s next Joker says he was trying to create an element of surprise on the set, which is why he sent his costars used condoms. We have to admit, this is not a strategy we would have considered. We had previously heard about Jared Leto’s other great on set shenanigans, that included sending a rat to Margot Robbie and bullets to Will Smith. He also gifted the entire cast with a dead pig. You know, like you do. Now, »
