The five best roles of Oscar Isaac

With his new film Mojave set for release in the UK tomorrow (Friday March 25th), we take a look back at some of the work of the great Oscar Isaac, arguably the best working actor in Hollywood right now…

Up until mega-blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens you could very well be forgiven for asking, ‘Who is Oscar Isaac?’ Since then it’s more likely to be ‘Where can I see more Oscar Isaac?’ The talented 36-year-old, Guatemalan born leading man has won a lot of hearts in the last few years. His early roles had a tendency to leave him lurking in the background, simmering with intensity in films such as Drive. But more recently his immense charisma has positioned him as leading man or chief bad guy. And as new La psycho-thriller Mojave hits cinemas, we take a look at the performances that led him to where he is today. »

Charlie Cox wants to see Bullseye in Daredevil season three

Although we’re yet to hear anything official about a third season of Netflix’s hit Marvel series Daredevil, star Charlie Cox is already thinking about what could be in store for the Man Without Fear in the future. In an interview with Screen Rant, the actor has revealed that he’d like to see the introduction of Bullseye, and the return of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk.

“If we are fortunate enough to continue making the Daredevil series, I can’t imagine doing a run of Daredevil where Bullseye doesn’t show up at some point,” states Cox. “It would be great to have him around at some point.  Who would play that part I have no idea but I just think there’s such an interesting, rich character there, and also of course, the history that Bullseye has with Karen Page is an interesting dynamic. International trailer for Captain America: Civil War

Earlier today we brought you a poster for Captain America: Civil War, and now we have an international trailer for the Phase Three-launching Marvel threequel. Unfortunately, there’s not too much in the way of new footage, but there are some snippets, including an exchange between Hawkeye and Black Widow.

Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. »

Director Corin Hardy exits The Crow remake

It looks like the long-planned remake of The Crow will need to find itself another director, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that Corin Hardy (The Hallow) has exited the troubled project, which was slated to go into production this month.

Hardy was the latest filmmaker to attached to the remake, but has now seemingly gone the way of previous directors Stephen Norrington (Blade), Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) and F. Javier Gutierrez (Before the Fall).

According to reports, Relativity and producer Dana Brunetti removed Hardy as director on the film at the end of January, prompting the Edward R. Pressman Film Corporation, producers of the 1994 movie, to launch a legal challenge to deny Relativity Media the rights to sequels, prequels and remakes of the cult film.

Surely it’s time to give this one up?

Countdown to Batman v Superman – Superman Unchained

Ricky Church continues his countdown to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with Superman Unchained…

With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice getting its wide release Friday, its time for the final entry into our Countdown for the film and, funny enough, the final story that I recommend is one made by an entirely different Snyder. Superman Unchained is writer Scott Snyder’s examination of Superman’s place and significance in the modern world, somewhat questioning whether there’s any need for him anymore in the DC Universe and our own pop culture. Ultimately it’s a love letter to everything good about Superman, showcasing why he remains relevant and how he’s the strongest character, physically and morally, in the DC Universe.

Superman discovers the existence of Wraith, a powerful alien who landed in America shortly before the outbreak of World War II and has secretly been in the »

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 Episode 13 Review – ‘Parting Shot’

Danny Hale reviews the thirteenth episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D season 3…

This week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. gave us a fine send off for two of my favourite characters on the show. I had been waiting to see how Bobbi and Hunter may be written out of the series, unsure if it would come during the finale or beforehand. With Marvel’s Most Wanted now confirmed it was only a matter of time and ultimately I was not disappointed.

Parting Shot jumps right into the thick of it; Coulson and the team are already providing support to Hunter and Bobbi as they land in Siberia having seen them stow away on Malick and Pedrov’s plane last week. We know from the beginning that Bobbi and Hunter are prisoners of Interpol within Russia and the rest of the episode begins to shed light on what »

Movie Review – Welcome to Me (2014)

Welcome to Me, 2014.

Directed by Shira Piven.

Starring Kirsten Wiig, James Marsden, Joan Cusack, Alan Tudyk, Linda Cardellini, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tim Robbins, Wes Bentley.

Synopsis:

Alice Klieg suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder and a mild addiction to Oprah Winfrey. When she wins over $80 million on a lottery she makes the decision to stop taking her medication and start her own talk show. Surely nothing can go wrong.

Kristin Wiig has done so many big, brash comedies in recent years it is nice to see her in something smaller, with a bit more heart and a bit less bodily functions and cursing. Her character of Alice Klieg is fairly happy with her life. She has her own apartment, she has a great and understanding best friend Gina (Cardellini) and she has recording of every Oprah Winfrey show.

It is only when Alice wins a lottery that she decides she wants more. »

Daredevil Season 2 Episode 7 Review – ‘Semper Fidelis’

Ricky Church reviews the seventh episode of Daredevil season 2…

One aspect that makes Daredevil, both the show and the hero himself, unique is his daytime career as a lawyer pursuing justice for the common person. Half of Daredevil’s first season came off as a legal drama as Nelson & Murdock worked to take Wilson Fisk down through the legal system, bringing in an interesting new angle to the superhero format. This season thankfully hasn’t shied away from the legal aspect of the series and now the ‘trial of the century’ begins as Frank Castle’s fate is set to be determined by a jury of his peers.

Punisher has so far been the standout addition to the series with Jon Bernthal delivering an emotional and badass portrayal of the character. Though he didn’t get quite as much screentime in this episode, he was still great whenever he showed up. »

Paul McCartney comes aboard Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones) will no longer be the only famous rocker to have popped up in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, as a new report from Deadline states that music legend Paul McCartney (The Beatles) has signed on for a small role in 2017’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Supposedly, directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg and producer Jerry Bruckheimer decided to do some additional shooting after wrapping production on the film and now have an “extra big set-piece scene” built around McCartney.

McCartney doesn’t have a ton of acting experience outside of his Beatle-related films from the 60s; since then, he has mainly just made cameos on TV shows such as 30 Rock and Bojack Horseman.

Dead Men Tell No Tales is the fifth installment in the long-running film series, which stars Johnny Depp as the boozy Captain Jack Sparrow, a character »

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice cast respond to negative reviews

It’s fair to say that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hasn’t got off to the best of starts when it comes to reviews. Scott Davis gave it two stars in his review here at Flickering Myth (Oli Davis hated it) and on Rotten Tomatoes its currently got a worse score than The Room. So, what do the cast make of the critical response to Warner’s big DC ensemble?

“What is going to really matter, I believe, is what the audience says,” Henry Cavill tells Yahoo. “Because they’re the ones who are buying tickets, they’re the ones who want to see more of this kind of story, or not. So the audience’s voice is loudest, and after this weekend, the audience will at least partly have spoken.”

Ben Affleck agreed with Cavill, while Amy Adams said the film wasn’t made “for the critics »
