Outlander Star Talks the 'Mysterious' St. Germain's Vendetta Against Claire

27 April 2016 5:08 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Outlander‘s Claire Beauchamp Fraser goes by many names: “Sassenach,” “Lady Broch Tuarach” and “madonna” are a few favorites. But Stanley Weber, who plays the villainous Le Comte Saint Germain in Starz’s historical drama, has another to add to the list:

“She is ‘the fuel of his rage,'” he tells TVLine in advance of this week’s episode, which finds the French aristocrat having several highly charged run-ins with the Frasers. “Claire and Jamie help to enrage him and infuriate him. They push him, definitely.”

Outlander Recap: The Purpose Driven Wife, Plus: Fergus Enters the Fray

Though their circumstances, carnal endurance and cheekbones suggest otherwise, Outlander‘s Jamie and Claire are, in fact, only human. Isn’t it nice to see, as we do in this week’s episode, that a bit of stress and a lack of sleep make them as susceptible to the same everyday bitchery as the rest of us?

Perhaps my current situation makes me a little sensitive to this kind of thing: Having a 1-year-old daughter offers me many gifts, but an overabundance of patience is not one of them, and my by-all-measures-amazing husband sometimes becomes the unintended target of my exhaustion. »

Now comes word that American Gods has started shooting its 10 episode first season in Toronto, Canada before moving onto to various locations across North America. The cameras, they are a-rolling on the Toronto set of Starz’s adaptation of American Gods, but the network has still carved out room for last-minute additions to the cast.

According to Deadline, Cloris Leachman, Peter Stormare, Chris Obi and Mousa Kraish of Fast & Furious fame have capped off Starz’s casting spree, as it looks to wrangle Neil Gaiman’s mythic fantasy novel about warring deities onto the small screen.

Spanning 10 episodes in total – for now, at least – it’s understood Leachman will take point as Zorya Vechernyaya, the “eldest of three sisters who watch over the constellations, guarding against horrors forgotten by modern man.” From the regal to the irredeemable, Stormare has been cast as Czernobog, billed as the “Slavic god of darkness and evil, Czernobog is reluctant to join the coming war, wary of Wednesday’s motivations.”
