Edge of Tomorrow 2 finds its screenwriters

It looks like Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow are pressing ahead with their plans for a follow-up to Edge of Tomorrow, with Deadline reporting that in-demand screenwriters Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse (Race, The Gray Man) have signed on to pen the script for the sci-fi sequel.

Reports earlier this week suggested that Christopher McQuarrie (screenwriter on the first movie) would be helming the sequel, but McQuarrie has taken to Twitter to confirm that Doug Liman will once again be back in the director’s chair, reuniting with star Tom Cruise. As yet, there’s been no official word about whether co-star Emily Blunt will return.

Liman was set to shoot the X-Men spinoff Gambit prior to its delay, and will now focus his attention on The Wall for Amazon Studios, so it’s unclear how and when Edge of Tomorrow 2 will fit into his schedule.

Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone to reteam for Life of the Party

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Melissa McCarthy and her husband, director Ben Falcone, will be teaming up once again for New Line’s upcoming comedy Life of the Party. Falcone is set to direct the film and McCarthy has signed on to star, making this the pair’s third collaboration of that sort. The duo penned the script for the film and are both set to produce as well.

Life of the Party is described by the outlet as being “akin in tone to the Rodney Dangerfield hit Back to School and pitched as a broad comedy playing on McCarthy’s strengths.” Aside from that, plot details are currently unknown.

Falcone first directed McCarthy in 2014’s Tammy, a film that, while panned by critics, turned a tidy profit at the box office, taking in over $100 million on a $20 million budget. It looks like the pair’s most recent effort, »

Samuel Brace with four reasons to be excited about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Everything from the visuals, aesthetic, character designs to the music, this trailer was on god damn point and gave us a glimpse at what looks to be potentially an excellent movie. Hype was high before this teaser, just the knowledge that the film would be about stealing the plans to the Og Death Star were enough, but this first look has only amplified such feelings. Will the movie be great? Who knows. For that, we will have to wait and see. But it sure as shit looks cool, and there is many a reason to be excited for the December release. Here are four of them.
