Snoop Dogg launches nature show because he's Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg launches nature show because he's Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg loves nature - especially when it’s smokable or edible. But it turns out the Doggfather’s love for the great outdoors extends well beyond cannabis, and he’s brought it to YouTube.

The legendary rapper behind such hits as “Gin and Juice” and “Who am I?” has launched a video series called Planet Snoop on his Merry Jane channel. It was no doubt inspired by his "Plizzanet Earth" sketches on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and furthered by an online petition encouraging Snoop to make the show. To date, it’s gathered more than 65,000 signatures.

Big changes ahead for America's Best Dance Crew

ABDC returns with all-star dance crews and a VMA theme
Big changes ahead for America's Best Dance Crew

Three years have passed since "America's Best Dance Crew," aka "ABDC," was cancelled by MTV after seven seasons of often-spectacular performances by hip-hop dance crews. When it returns July 29, it will look very different--and have a live finale right before MTV's VMAs.

The teams competing, however, will be very familiar: they're the winners of seasons 2 through 7 -- Super Cr3W, Quest Crew, We Are Heroes, I.aM.mE, and Elektrolytes -- plus a new group, Kinjaz, formed from team leaders of other dance crews, including season-one winners Jabbawockeez.

The significant changes to the competition series start with the subtitle. Instead of being preceded by "Randy Jackson Presents," the show title is now "America’s Best Dance Crew: Road to the VMAs." The former "American Idol" judge turned mentor doesn't seem to be on board with the new season, as his name isn't listed among producers. Instead, it's produced by Hip Hop International's Howard and Karen Schwartz, who were involved with the original series, and Rob Lee's Bayonne Entertainment.

That's because it'll conclude with a live finale right before the Video Music Awards. (Actually, the finale will air right before the pre-show, at 4 p.m. ET on Aug. 30.) The entire season will be VMA-themed, getting dangerously close to being just an extended advertisement for MTV's VMAs.

MTV says that the show will air "six all-new 'Video Music Award'--themed episodes" during which "the all-star crews will have to create routines inspired by 'VMA'-related elements and challenges."

Also on the Host Mario Lopez is out, replaced by Jason Dundas; all the judges are gone, too, including JC Chasez and Lil Mama. Instead, "Big Brother" cast member and social media mogul Frankie Grande will be a judge alongside singer T-Pain and singer/actor Teyana Taylor.

That's a lot of change, but it's also a lot of potential, especially with the winning groups (almost) all returning to compete against each other. An all-star season featuring should be enough to draw fans back, and their talent should make for a terrific competition, regardless of the VMA tie-ins.

Here's a compilation of dances from season-six winners I.aM.mE to give you a sense of the kinds of performances to expect:

Controversy around CBS's new reality series "The Briefcase" has been brewing for awhile (see Andy Dehnart's take here), but now a petition is circulating that charges the show with catering in "altruism porn." The premise? Financially struggling American families are presented with a briefcase containing $101,000 before being given the choice: keep it all for themselves or share the wealth with another family in similarly dire circumstances. How does this strike you?

Interview: Carolyn Rivera talks 'Survivor: Worlds Apart'

'Survivor' finalist discusses the social game failure that may have cost her the million

Carolyn of "Survivor: Worlds Apart"

Carolyn of "Survivor: Worlds Apart"

Carolyn Rivera had a rough "Survivor" finale night.

Not only did the Florida-based corporate executive lose the "Survivor: Worlds Apart" crown to Mike Holloway, but she received fewer votes than she anticipated, in tying with Will Sims for third with one vote apiece.

And then to make things worse, Carolyn's candidacy for next season's "Survivor: Second Chances" fell short. [It's no solace, probably, but Mike thinks Carolyn got hosed in the Second Chance voting process]

So you'll forgive me for treating Carolyn as the season's second place finisher, at least in terms of exit interview publication.

Carolyn earned it.

In addition to a key Individual Immunity win, a crucial play on a hidden Idol that she found sans clue and successful maintenance of majority alliance that would have won the day were it not for Mike's Immunity hot streak, Carolyn also earned her place in the Final 3 with a thrilling, tie-breaking fire build victory over Rodney. For the last few weeks of the season I repeatedly said that Carolyn was one of only two players with a deserving claim on the Sole Survivor crown. She just fell short.

In another slightly truncated exit interview -- Carolyn and Will were supposed to be paired, but I ended up with slightly less time for them as individuals -- Carolyn discusses the adversity she faced as an older woman, the social failings that left her weak with the No Collars on the Jury and the frustration and then elation of that fire tie.

Click through for the full Carolyn Q&A and look for the season's last "Survivor" exit interview tomorrow night...

Interview: Rodney Lavoie Jr. and Sierra Dawn Thomas talk 'Survivor: Worlds Apart'

Rodney explains how 'Survivor' sexism is like Deflategate

"Survivor: Worlds Apart" fourth and fifth place finishers Rodney Lavoie Jr. and Sierra Dawn Thomas called me as a package deal on Thursday (May 21) morning following the "Survivor" finale.

The pairing probably spared Rodney lots of repetition about the various sexism and misogyny charges leveled through the season and discussed through the finale. Those issues came up in our conversation, but it wasn't the meat of the exit interview.

In a season with a 6-1-1 vote, I let Sierra and Rodney defend casting their respective votes for Carolyn and Will instead of eventual winner Mike.

We discussed a few strategic points in the game, we circled around the sexist comments, the edit and who apologized to whom.

And we talked about Rodney's birthday and his feelings about Tom Brady's suspension in Deflategate. Which Rodney compares to excessive attention to "Survivor" sexism.

Paired interviews are a good way to deflect problematic questions!

Check back over the next few nights for my exit interviews with Carolyn, Will and Mike.

And check out my full Q&A with Rodney and Sierra below...
