‘The Good Wife’ Showrunners Don’t Deny Josh Charles Return Rumors

Sunday afternoon at the Tribeca Film Festival, “The Good Wife” stars Julianna Margulies, Matt Czuchry, Cush Jumbo and showrunners Michelle and Robert King gathered to discuss the popular CBS drama, finishing its seventh season May 8, and screen the fourth to last episode.

Rumors are swirling that Josh Charles will return for the series finale, and the Kings told Variety they’re enjoying the buzz.

“We don’t want to squash those rumors, because why would we?” Robert King said. “But there are a lot of possibilities for the last episodes.”

There has also been chatter of possible spinoffs, and the Kings said they haven’t ruled out the idea.

“It’s very preliminary,” Michelle King said. “And a little bit early to be talking about it…But there is a possibility.”

Ultimately, the showrunners admit they are ready to finish the series, and are pleased their tenure will correspond with the show’s finale. »
