Addressing Halos in Lightroom (6)

The articles that I've found on correcting halos along the edges of bright objects on bright backgrounds all seem rely on Photoshop and its refine edges function. Most of those articles and vids date to about 2014. I expect this means that Photoshop is the go-to for correcting halos, BUT I don't have PS (well, I have an older elements) so isn't there something that can be done in Lightroom (I have v.6)? I'm very new to LR, and I've tried some of the brush functions, but can't seem to find a good combination of function and settings that helps. I understand it's improved some since 2014, and this is why I'm asking.
Apart from replying, "get PS", is there a procedure that might help?
