MISSION & OBJECTIVE

Being the first International Film Festival in the Nation's Capital, OIFF has quickly risen to become a highly regarded, unbiased platform for filmmakers that are looking to advance their career in the Motion Picture Industry.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Founded in 2009, the Ottawa International Film Festival (OIFF) is a not-for-profit festival that runs every October for a period of 3-5 days. OIFF is actively dedicated to advancing the work of creative international filmmakers while maintaining a dedicated space for Canadian filmmakers.

OIFF has quickly risen to become a highly regarded unbiased platform for filmmakers that are looking to advance their careers in the Film and Television Industry. We work with full support from Invest Ottawa - The Ottawa Film Office and stand as a recognized member of Ottawa Festivals. We have a strong partnership with Embassies and great partnerships with many successful industry businesses across the country,

OIFF delivers year-round networking activities, workshops, and panels that are open to the public and free to all participating filmmakers. These activities assist with meeting new investors and other industry professionals all while learning about funding, pre-sales, private financing, distribution and the importance of a unions.

Past OIFF panelists have included:
*Oscar Award Winning Producer Chris Branch (The Lady in No. 6)
*Producer Aaron Ryder (Donnie Darko, Memento)
*Producer Robert Menzies (House at the End of The Street with Jennifer Lawrence) *Producer Michael Baker (Young People Fucking)

OIFF has been sponsored by the Director's Guild of Canada, a provincial labour organization representing more than 1,700 key creative and logistical personnel working in the Film Industry.

This year, we have awards provided in the following categories:
- Best post-production visual F/X for a feature/short in any category
- Best film score for a feature/short in any category
- Best Ottawa feature/short in any category
- Best film made in 72 hours (yes, our challenge is moving to October!)

OIFF remains committed to its mission of developing and promoting independent artists, encouraging filmmakers to create outside the box - taking them from their editing suites and walking them down the red carpet.
