About the Honors Program:
The University-Wide Honors Program allows students to go beyond the classroom and regular course work. It is separate from the degree and provides an exceptional co-curricular experience to diverse high achieving students to encourage writing and thinking, interdisciplinary activities, research, teamwork, leadership, and preparation for graduate and professional school. 

Benefits of Applying to the Honors Program: 
  • Engagement with other students and faculty members in a challenging and educational environment outside of the classroom
  • Direct access to the President and other administrators including dinners with the Provost and President 
  • Direct engagement with Lyceum Event speakers and guest speakers
  • Mentors to enhance their leadership skills, writing skills, and community outreach 
  • Upon graduation, honors students receive presidential recognition and honors notation on their official transcript 
Honors Program Requirements:
  • Students who apply to the Honors Program must have a 3.2 grade point average or above
  • Only rising sophomore students will be accepted into the program
  • Applicants must complete a one-time application, submit the names and e-mail addresses of two references (to tuhonors@mytu.tuskegee.edu), and write a letter of interest. You will also need to upload a resume and unofficial transcript. 

To successfully complete the Honors Program:
  • Students will be required to have 45 hours of documented community service hours
  • Participate in Year-Long Common Reading experience activities
  • Attend 12 Lyceum events
  • Complete 1 research, internship, or an International experience
  • Complete a culminating Honors experience paper (at the end of their senior year that can be published in the Research Journal)
  • Maintain a 3.2 grade point average

How do I Apply?

  • Applications for 2016-2017 will be available for rising Sophomore Students, February 1, 2016.
  • The Honors Program Application Deadline for Fall 2016 is Friday, March 4, 2016
