First Clip + Poster for Eddie Murphy's First Film in Five Years - 'Mr. Church'

23 April 2016 9:09 AM, PDT

It feels like it's been a long time since we last saw Eddie Murphy on the big screen, doesn't it? I'm sure he's comfortable financially, and isn't exactly pressed to make new money by taking on almost every project that's offered to him. So when Murphy does attach himself to a project, it immediately gets my attention. The last time we saw him on the big screen was in "Tower Heist" in 2011, 5 years ago. Although there was that terrible "A Thousand Words" which sat in limbo for years after it was made, until Dreamworks finally released it in early 2012 (it was made years before "Tower Heist") to overwhelmingly negative reviews and weak box »

Tribeca First Look: The Cast Of Own’s ‘Greenleaf’ on the Series’ Expansive Foundation & Arresting Narrative

22 April 2016 7:06 AM, PDT

I grew up in a two-religion household. Whether I was reading, cooking, or playing with my sister, my father’s prayers to Allah were often heard in the background. I can see him now; his freshly washed feet stepping gracefully on his prayer mat, his body folding deeply as his forehead touched the ground. This was the same church she’d attended as a girl. I can recall the »

21 April 2016 2:35 PM, PDT

Today’s haiku: april snow has come early morning news Prince gone sometimes I wish life I live in Japan. In my home Prince reigns musically. "Purple Rain" is one song I own in a karaoke room. When I brush my children’s teeth, I sing "Purple Rain." They ask for it now when it’s tooth-brushing time. I am a Prince fan. I drove across the United States primarily listening to the "Emancipation" album. I have his music on vinyl, CD, cassette, and of course, digitally. My affinity for Prince goes way back. Heck, we shared the same birthday, June 7th, along with Nikki Giovanni and Gwendolyn Brooks. Yet, I know I am not the biggest fan, because I have friends who are »

Here's the List of Films & TV Series Coming to Amazon Prime in May

21 April 2016 9:47 AM, PDT

Netflix gets all the love, but Amazon does have a competing streaming video service called Amazon Prime (which I've been a subscriber of for a few years), and it too does refresh its monthly offerings just like Netflix. It may not boasts the same number of subscribers as Netflix does, but I'm sure a lot of you are members, and you use the service just like I do. In fact, I actually don't have a favorite streaming service. Netflix and Amazon get the most play in my house, but neither dominates. There's also of course Hulu, and other relatively smaller players which I might highlight as well. For today, here's the list of films and TV shows that will be coming to Amazon's streaming »
