Prince's private plane made an emergency landing early Friday morning to rush the singer to the hospital, his rep confirmed to PEOPLE.
The star, who has been battling the flu for a number of weeks, was taken to the hospital in Moline, Illinois, where he was treated and released three hours later, the singer's rep confirms. He is now resting at home.
Prince, 57, who kicked off his "Piano and a Microphone" tour earlier this year, postponed two shows last week in Atlanta as the entertainer was ill.
After rescheduling, Prince performed at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta Thursday night. In the crowd were singers Judith Hill and Janelle Monáe.
"Prince. In Atlanta. At the FOX Theatre. With just a piano. Greatest ever. RE inspired all over again," Monáe tweeted Thursday night.
In response to a fans admiration, Prince took to Twitter Friday morning to express his thoughts on the performance.
"I am still floating on a cloud of purple intoxication after last night's Piano & A Microphone show in Atlanta," the singer wrote.
TMZ was first to report the news.
