When you plan a route, just one tap pulls up schedules and you’ll get step-by-step directions to keep you on track. You can also ask Siri to guide you.
Searching in Maps is now even easier and more convenient. The Nearby feature shows you a list of categories including Food, Drink, Shopping, Fun, and more. Within each category, you’ll get more in‑depth listings. For example, under Food you’ll see Popular, Restaurants, Groceries, Fast Food, Cafés, Bakeries, and Desserts. No matter where you are, Nearby makes it easy to explore your surroundings to find what you need.
When you’re driving or walking, Maps helps you find your way to your destination with turn-by-turn spoken directions. As you approach a turn, Maps speaks directions, so you can keep your eyes on the road. And the screen turns into a 3D perspective of the road ahead. When you enter into a turn, the viewing angle changes dynamically to show you where to go. If you miss a turn, don’t worry. Maps automatically reroutes you and updates your ETA. And all along the way, large signs and arrows guide you in the right direction and let you know how long it’s going to take to get there — even if your screen is locked.
With Maps, you get real-time traffic information to calculate your ETA. Maps gives you details on what’s causing a backup, so you can tell if there’s a major incident or just a temporary slowdown. And if traffic’s a mess, Maps offers alternative routes to save you time.

No matter where you roam, Siri can help you find your way.2 To get to your destination, ask Siri to take you there and Maps immediately guides you along the fastest route. And if you feel peckish on the way, ask Siri to look for the closest hamburger joint or diner.
Tap a pin you’ve placed on the map or a search result to see a card full of useful information about that location. View photos, tap to dial phone numbers, get an address, find websites, see which places accept Apple Pay, peruse Yelp ratings and reviews — even find deals to save you money. Tap the Quick Route button and Maps instantly gives you turn-by-turn directions to any search result.
When you hear about a great new spot — like a restored drive-in movie theater or a restaurant-slash-boutique — save it as a bookmark in Maps. And spare your future self the need to remember the names and addresses of those places all over again. iCloud stores the locations you’ve bookmarked, so they’re accessible on your Mac, iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.3 iCloud also lets you send a map from your Mac running OS X Mavericks or later straight to your iPhone. When you’re signed in to iCloud on both devices, your phone shows up in the Share menu on your Mac. So you can plan your trip at your desk and get turn-by-turn voice navigation on the go.
