Castle Recap: I Dream of Genie

This week’s episode of Castle was the sort that test some viewers’ patience, diving as deep as “fantasy-augmented” Rick did off the deep end of reality. But if you, like me, are the kind of longtime fan who allows the show a lotta leniency those one or two times a season, you had to appreciate how this episode went all in with the “magic lamp” tale.

Dancing With the Stars Week 4 Recap: Did the Right Couple Go Home?

It’s fitting that the latest installment of Dancing With the Stars was the series’ annual Disney week, because some routines were absolute beauties, while others were complete beasts.

Tinkerbell dumped heaps of fairy dust on the usual suspects (Nyle Dimarco, Ginger Zee), leaving competitors like Doug Flutie to stumble about like hippos in search of their tutus. Still others, like an exuberant Kim Fields and a stately Von Miller, found their inner zip-a-dee-doo-dah and turned in performances that greatly improved upon previous weeks’ showings.

The Voice Live Playoffs (Pt. 1) Recap: We Want Them to Stay-ay-ay (Well, a Few of 'Em, Anyhow)

Shhhhhhh. Be very, very quiet. If you listen closely enough, you’ll hear the subtle shade dripping from the tongues of The Voice‘s shiny, happy coaching panel.

“You’re still in the process of really improving a lot,” Adam said cheerily to Team Xtina’s Nick Hagelin, which, translated into Real Talk, would go something like, “Dude, you’ve got a long way to go.”

“That was super solid, Mary,” countered Xtina, describing Team Blake’s Mary Sarah with the most damning adjective she’ll allow herself to say on live television. »

Supergirl Recap: Sister Act

You could put Supergirl under the Black Mercy’s spell a dozen times, or pump her full of Red Kryptonite, and you still wouldn’t wind up in an alternate universe where she willingly works alongside Cat Grant and Maxwell Lord.

But desperate times call for desperate measures, as seen in the CBS drama’s penultimate Season 1 episode. With most of National City succumbing to Non’s new initiative, Kara faces a whole — forgive me — myriad of problems in Monday’s installment, forcing her to align with Max and Cat, the only two denizens who aren’t affected by the signal. »

The Magicians Recap: Fillory of Fear

Raise your hand if you’re going to have nightmares after Monday’s The Magicians.

The Season 1 finale featured so many disturbing images and twists — not to mention, some purely weird ones — that I need a hedge witch memory patch of my own so I’m not haunted tonight. (I haven’t read the books, so I don’t know how much of the installment came from the producers’ imaginations and how much was pulled from the source material, but either way, you can’t deny that the Syfy series is ballsy.)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Sneak Peek: 24's Dennis Haysbert Helps Plan a Heist

This week’s episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will introduce us to FBI Agent Bob Anderson, an old pal of Capt. Holt’s — and it’s very easy to see why they’re friends.

Played by 24 vet Dennis Haysbert, Anderson is nearly identical to Holt in every way, right down to their silky-smooth voices. Their only difference? As seen in our exclusive sneak peek from Tuesday’s installment (Fox, 9/8c), Anderson is way more willing to humor Jake’s absurd ideas, much to Holt’s chagrin.

Jon who?

HBO unveiled three new clips from Game of Thrones‘ Season 6 on Monday evening, and instead of flogging (sorry, Cersei!) the old question about whether the handsome, dark-haired and repeatedly stabbed Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch is dead or alive, the focus falls squarely on the show’s female protagonists.

Because when Frank had a momentary breakdown and busted up the Rev. Wakefield’s outbuilding in the Starz series’ highly emotional Season 2 premiere, the effect was largely cathartic, the actor says. “I can recommend it,” he adds, laughing.

Much of the drama’s return involved Frank’s reaction to his wife’s reappearance in the 1940s after a two-year absence. »
