Where there’s a Will there’s a way. Even in death.

I’m hearing Josh Charles is set to reprise his role as the late Will Gardner in The Good Wife‘s May 8 season finale. Rumor has it he will appear opposite Julianne Margulies’ Alicia in a newly-created flashback sequence (Ncfs). CBS would not confirm Charles’ return.

Fox Pushes Nasim Pedrad’s ‘Chad’ Comedy Pilot Production

5 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Fox has pushed back production on Nasim Pedrad’s comedy pilot “Chad: An American Boy.” The pilot is now scheduled to shoot in May, too late to be considered for upfronts that month. It remains in contention for a midseason pickup.

Fox cited complications related to an international casting search as the reason for the delay. “Chad” is a single-camera comedy in which “Saturday Night Live” alum Pedrad, who is of Iranian descent, plays a 13-year-old Iranian-American boy.

“Because of our commitment to authenticity, we conducted a worldwide casting search for several roles in this pilot which meant that we wouldn’t have been able to get visas in time to shoot within the traditional pilot window,” producer 20th Century Fox said in a statement.

Fox also announced the casting of two additional actors for the series—Christine Tawfik as Chad’s mother Naz and Paul Chahidi as Naz’s sweet older cousin Hamid. »

Bubble Watch: Status Report On ‘Castle’, ‘Nashville’, ‘Criminal Minds’, ‘CSI: Cyber’, ‘Sleepy Hollow’ & Other Series In Danger

2016 has been a relatively calm year for bubble shows. For the first time in a while, all five broadcast networks gave early renewals to the bulk of their lineups, leaving a handful of shows — mostly freshmen — on the fence. Leading the charge was the CW, which went for a rather unprecedented pickup of all of its shows on the air at the time of the renewal — 11 total. ABC has renewed 15 series, CBS, Fox and NBC – 11 each. J.J. Abrams Talks TV Show Ideas With Chris Rock at Tribeca Film Festival

1 hour ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

A half-hour drama created by J.J. Abrams and starring Chris Rock? That was just one of the topics of conversation to come up in a far-ranging public discussion between Abrams and Rock at the Tribeca Film Festival, during which Abrams also apologized for overdoing it on the lens flares, revealed his personal conception of God and refused to answer a pre-teen in the audience who asked him who Rey’s parents are.

Speaking with an easy rapport at an event that was part of the Tribeca Talks series of public conversations, the two spitballed an idea for a TV show when Rock asked Abrams what he should be doing in television.

Abrams shot back, “If I nail it, will you do it with me?”

“Sure,” Rock agreed. “I’m probably a single-camera show,” he added. “My skill set is multi-camera, but what’s gonna keep me interested, keep me intrigued, »

CBS, Big Ticket Fire Back at Agent in ‘Judge Judy’ Lawsuit, Claim He Was Paid $17 Million ‘For Doing Nothing’

2 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Big Ticket Television and CBS said in a court filing that talent agency Rebel Entertainment Partners was paid $17 million in package fees “for doing nothing” for the TV series “Judge Judy,” and didn’t even represent star Judy Sheindlin.

Rebel Entertainment Partners filed suit against Big Ticket and CBS last month, claiming that it has not received contractually obligated payments for “Judge Judy” since 2010, because the show is losing money due to Sheindlin’s annual salary of as much as $47 million. Rebel, led by Richard Lawrence, is a successor agency to Abrams-Rubaloff & Lawrence.

In their response to the complaint, CBS and Big Ticket claim that Lawrence pitched a Judge Judy project to syndicators, but did not disclose that he did not represent Sheindlin. He did represent the producers, Sandi Spreckman and Kaye Switzer, who had interested Sheindlin in doing a show.

According to the response, Big Ticket entered into a »

Vampire Diaries Recap: Splitsville

Friday’s episode of The Vampire Diaries pummeled us with two major breakups, and I’m honestly not sure which split was more depressing.

SAG-aftra Commercials Deal Includes $200 Million-Plus Pay Hike

3 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

SAG-aftra leaders are asserting that the proposed three-year commercials deal includes “more than $200 million” in pay hikes for members.

The gains appear to be less than the current three-year master contract, which provided $238 million in pay gains for members.

The performers union, which has about 160,000 members, will send out voting instructions to eligible members on April 18. It did not disclose the deadline for voting.

SAG-aftra had posted earlier in the week the memorandum of agreement with the ad industry without comment — and without an estimate of the monetary gain for members. The proposed deal contains a 7% hike in minimum wage rates and a 1.2% increase in employer contributions to health and retirements funds.

The SAG-aftra national board approved the deal unanimously on April 10, triggering the ratification vote. The tentative agreement was reached on April 3.

The contract covers an estimated $1 billion in annual wages for performers. The health and retirement contributions will »
