Trivia
Incorrectly regarded as the first time the long-running character (first seen in the opening credits of the Clouseau film
The Pink Panther (1963)) is given a voice. The Pink Panther actually first spoke in two theatrical shorts 28 years before this series: first in
Sink Pink (1965) and later in
Pink Ice (1965).

The old pantomime cartoons where the Pink Panther very rarely spoke were quite clever and funny. Unfortunately, while this later series does have some genuinely good jokes and episodes, overall the 1990's series is a big disappointment.
It tries to be hip to supposedly appeal to the younger set, but fails, and also resorts to ethnic stereotypes that stopped being funny decades before. It also tries to replace cleverness with silliness. The old series did resort to weirdness at times, but did so in a clever way. This series actually tries to be more conventional, and feels like a cookie-cutter cartoon in which the Pink Panther happened to be inserted.
