St. Vincent (2014)
Awesome Cast, Great movie! Highly recommend
This is probably my new favorite movie! There were so many great things about it! It was sweet, touching and funny! The chemistry of the main cast was part of what made the movie so great!
I was blown away by the actor who played Oliver- Jaeden Leiberher! It was not an easy role to portray-- he had to be able to connect to the audience with his emotion, capture the character's desire to see past the exterior of a person (very rare for an 11 year old), and he had to make it believable which he did flawlessly!
I saw this movie mainly because I am a huge fan of Melissa McCarthy! I expected it to be comedy as that is where she shines the most, but I was pleasantly surprised with her more dramatic, down to earth and motherly role (of which still included Melissa's funny one liners). I loved being able to see another side to this talented actress, and I found myself really empathizing with her character.
Naomi Watts who plays the pregnant stripper Daka was probably the funniest character in the movie (aside from Bill Murray). She was very brilliantly casted and kept some of the more dramatic parts loose. I had never really been familiar with her work before, but I thought she nailed this part-- and the Russian accent!
Of course, the legendary Bill Murray (Vince) and his character's chemistry with Oliver was what made the movie so special. The whole story line is about looking past someone's exterior and seeing what other people might not see just by looking at them from the outside.
I have seen the movie now 4 times, and I cannot speak highly enough about it! If you have a chance, it's definitely a must see! Bring some Kleenex!
