Ben Affleck’s The Batman Will Be “Crammed With Villains”

Fans might not have taken too kindly to Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, but if there’s one thing that they all agreed on, it’s that Ben Affleck’s take on The Caped Crusader was a definite highlight of the film. So, it’s reassuring then to hear that the actor has complete creative control over the character’s upcoming solo effort, which is currently titled The Batman.

Rumors in the past have pointed towards the film adapting the famous “Under the Red Hood” story arc, which has Jason Todd return to Gotham City as a vengeful villain who’s after both Batman and The Joker. While fans would no doubt love to see that story on the big screen, Birth.Movies.Death is reporting that due to the similarities between “Red Hood” and Captain America: Civil War, DC isn’t going down that route for the film anymore. »

8 Star Wars Books That Every Force Awakens Fan Must Read

Most casual Star Wars fans don’t think of the book spinoffs as being an essential part of the story. These novels, they assume, are essentially glorified fan-fiction rushed onto store shelves in order to cash in on the success of the movies. Besides, even if a person hypothetically wanted to become immersed in this expanded universe, where would they start? Over 200 Star Wars books have been published throughout the past several decades. Talk about impenetrable, huh?

Good news, though! When Disney purchased the rights to Lucasfilm back in 2012, they wiped every one of the existing novels out of canon, deciding to start fresh with a new series that would tie directly into the sequel trilogy. Catching up on the published material is now more easily accomplished than ever, and a few of the recent books are absolute must reads for anyone who loved The Force Awakens.

The 8 Best Moments Of Captain America: Civil War

Is Captain America: Civil War the best movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far? No, but it is certainly entertaining. The film is rolling out in stages around the world, which means we are not seeing the kind of explosive reaction that often tends to meet ‘day and date’ releases – but this thirteenth instalment in the phenomenally successful comic book movie franchise will undoubtedly be well received and generate lots of money, nonetheless.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), and written by Captain America stalwarts Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, Captain America: Civil War sees the Avengers called in to account for their destructive unilateral actions in sovereign territories. The team are asked to sign a United Nations legislative bill, titled the Sokovia Accords – an agreement reached by 117 countries, that requires oversight and monitoring of the ‘enhanced individuals’. Jeremy Irons Will Be Back For Justice League

With Justice League now in production over in London, we’re starting to hear more about what Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder have in store for us, including who exactly will be appearing in the film. We already know that we’ll be seeing Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Jason Momoa and Henry Cavill (in at least some capacity), and now we have confirmation that Jeremy Irons will be back as well, reprising his role of Alfred Pennyworth.

Speaking to Showbiz 411, the actor confirmed his return but wouldn’t say how big of a role he’ll play in the film. He factored into Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice quite heavily, but given that there are so many more characters fighting for the spotlight this time around, who knows how much room the story will have for him.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Gets Down To Earth

It’s still fairly early in the game for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The sequel is in the process of shooting in Atlanta, Georgia, and although this quirky entry in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe mostly takes place in the depths of outer space, one of the locations featured in the film looks to be very earth-bound indeed.

In the first Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s revealed that Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) spent his formative years, before the abduction, in the fictional town of St. Charles, Missouri. For the sequel, Disney and Marvel have lovingly recreated St. Charles in Cartersville, Georgia for the shoot. Although it doesn’t appear that Peter Quill or his cohorts, Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Rocket Racoon (Bradley Cooper), Groot (Vin Diesel), or Drax (Dave Bautista) were on hand for the filming, some serious action took place in downtown Cartersville.

In the video from the shoot, »

Invisible, Inc. Console Edition Review

When I first heard the news that there were no plans to bring Xcom 2 to consoles anytime soon, I was crushed. As a huge fan of Enemy Unknown, it was disappointing to hear that I wouldn’t get the chance to play the sequel until I had a computer capable of running it. Lord knows that isn’t happening anytime soon. So luckily, while one developer moves to the PC, another – in this case Klei Entertainment – has chosen to enter the world of home consoles. Originally debuting on the PC a little over a year ago, the futuristic Invisible, Inc. has now made the jump to the PlayStation 4.

If you couldn’t tell from the what I said above, much like Xcom,  Invisible, Inc. is a turn-based strategy game. Unlike Firaxis’ popular franchise, though, the protagonists here don’t have the weapons to combat their enemies. As the name would imply, »

King’s Quest: Chapter 3 – Once Upon A Climb Review

30 April 2016 2:41 PM, PDT

While I thought that the first installment of Sierra and developer The Old Gentlemen’s episodic King’s Quest reboot offered a good time for adventure game fans, the following episode made some big stumbles. While both were a bit too open-ended for their own good, the second episode’s gloomy environments and ultimately hollow gimmick made it something of a slog. As a result, I was unsure whether the remaining outing would help the series regain its footing.

So, I’m happy to report that not only is the third chapter, Once Upon A Climb, a major step in the right direction, but I’m actually pleasantly surprised to say that it’s probably one of my favorite gaming experiences of the year so far. It retains the best aspects of its predecessors and incorporates a very well done and meaningful new element. Better yet, it directly addresses my main recurring issue, »

New Preacher Images Have Jesse Custer Ready To Fight The Law

30 April 2016 2:32 PM, PDT

See Full Gallery Here

If there’s any theme that defined ex-Reverend Jesse Custer’s (Dominic Cooper) journey through the 75 issues of Preacher, it’s his aversion to authority (to put it mildly). Thankfully, the Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen-produced AMC series, although deviating somewhat from its source material, looks like it will still result in lots of run-ins with the cops.

For proof of this, simply take a look at the newly released photos above. In the first shot, the one-time preacher finds himself in a tense-looking situation with Sheriff Hugo Root (W. Earl Brown) – the father of Arseface (Ian Colletti).

Troubles with traditional law enforcement are the least of Custer’s concerns though, as he’ll also face off against the powers-that-be from Heaven. As we see in the other photo, there’s a Western-clad variation of the angelic sect known as the Adelphi. Agents Fiore (Tom Brooke »

Ranking The New Characters Of Captain America: Civil War

30 April 2016 2:21 PM, PDT

As well as featuring almost every super-powered person who exists in the McU (minus Thor and Hulk, of course), Captain America: Civil War also introduced us to a bunch of new characters. Though the movie’s major players are Iron Man, the Winter Soldier and Cap himself, many of the new guys had a surprisingly sizeable impact on the film and will continue to be important fixtures of the cinematic universe in the future.

The Russo brothers, and their screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, really have to be commended for giving us a good flavour of each of these new heroes and side characters, as it would have been a lot easier to simply drop them in without any characterization (we’re looking at you, Batman V Superman, with your teasers of the Justice League).

Ratchet & Clank Review

30 April 2016 1:58 PM, PDT

To proclaim that film adaptations of video games have a spotty history of box office success would be an understatement. In fact, the only such effort to inspire more than a single big-screen sequel has been Resident Evil, and most attempts to achieve similar success have resulted in epic disasters like Super Mario Bros., Wing Commander and Bloodrayne over the years. So, it’s worth noting that Ratchet & Clank – the first feature-length film based on the massively successful video game series – had the odds stacked against it from the start.

Whereas some video game films (like the aforementioned Mario adventure) are misguided enough to disregard the mythology that fans have grown to love, the narrative of Ratchet & Clank remains remarkably true to the 2002 game that launched the franchise as well as the revamped PlayStation 4 version that recently hit shelves. The story chronicles the origin story of the titular heroes (voiced »

Exclusive Video Interview: Garry Marshall Talks Mother’s Day

30 April 2016 12:46 PM, PDT

With Garry Marshall’s latest all-star ensemble film, Mother’s Day, we see several stories about all different types of mothers weaved together for a humorous and heartwarming experience.

Spinning a yarn around the titular holiday in the same vein as the director’s other themed efforts – namely Valentine’s Day and the much-maligned New Year’s Eve –Mother’s Day places a laser focus on the core cast of Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Jason Sudeikis and Julia Roberts, rather than spreading a wafer-thin narrative across a massive ensemble. That said, Marshall’s latest – written by Anya Kochoff-Romano and Lily Hollander – still orbits around a series of overlapping stories set against the holiday occasion.

This time, Aniston’s single mother and recent divorcée Sandy is searching for a significant other; Hudson’s workaholic mom makes it her mission to connect with her own mother; Roberts’ Miranda is an astute »

Afrojack And Laidback Luke Preview Another Festival Anthem

30 April 2016 12:23 PM, PDT

Earlier this week, Afrojack premiered a clip of his massive collaboration with Laidback Luke and Hawkboy, titled “Move To The Sound.”

Packing an encompassing sound design and classic electro embellishments, “Move To The Sound” is a scintillating big room anthem that’s already been storming Afrojack’s live sets for months now. The gurgling bassline is worthy of its own place in a club setting, but with a pitched topline taking the lead, the entire track is turned into a charging main stage weapon that will no doubt see a ton of play this summer.

Set to release on Wall Recordings on May 6th, we guarantee you’ll be hearing more of “Move To The Sound” over the months to come. As always, have a listen above and be sure to let us know your thoughts on Afrojack’s latest in the comments section below. »

Marshmello And Krewella Hint At Possible Collaboration

30 April 2016 11:53 AM, PDT

Yesterday, Krewella released their first single in over a year, and apart from receiving massive acclaim, there’s a wee bit of controversy to go along with the track.

After the Yousaf sisters posted their rap teaser on Facebook, Marshmello took it upon himself to stir the pot. The masked delicatessen posted a comment which matched Yasmine’s bars quite nicely, and also hinted at the artists working on something together.

Alone, this would have been a standard bout of fun between the two, but Krewella fired back a mysterious Tweet on the day of “Beggars'” release. Now, they could certainly be using the speculation to hype their new single, but our hopes are on something a bit more tangible. We’ll let you be the judge….

10 Actresses Who Should Play X-23 In The Wolverine 3

30 April 2016 11:39 AM, PDT

It was recently revealed that The Wolverine 3 will possibly include an appearance from Laura Kinney, a character better known to comic book fans as X-23.

Currently serving as Wolverine in the Marvel Comics Universe, X-23 started off as a product of the Weapon X program cloned from a damaged sample of Logan’s DNA. Since she could walk, Laura was trained to kill Wolverine. However, she instead chose to join the X-Men, becoming his daughter figure and eventually, Logan’s successor.

More News From The Web

While it currently remains a rumour, it wouldn’t be remotely surprising to see the movie – believed to be a loose adaptation of the Old Man Logan storyline – utilize a similar arc here. Not only that, but giving Wolverine a sidekick of sorts who has the potential to carry her own film down the line would work out quite well.

Splatoon Getting New Squid Sisters Amiibo In July

30 April 2016 11:29 AM, PDT

Nintendo has just announced the latest additions to their popular lineup of Amiibo figurines, as last year’s popular Wii U shooter Splatoon will be getting a few more characters immortalized in plastic. The most notable of these is the duo of Callie and Marie, Aka the Squid Sisters. Though not playable, the pair are prominent characters in the game, announcing the latest new levels and features on a daily basis.

Unlike existing Splatoon Amiibo, which unlocked various challenges and character equipment, the bonuses both characters offer seem more simple, as the above trailer indicates that they will primarily provide alternative music and background dances for the main hub.  Still, Splatoon is one of Nintendo’s bigger hits in recent years, and the Squid Sisters are fan favorites, so there will likely be many people eager to purchase these.

Additionally, alternately colored variants of the existing Inkling Boy and Inkling »

Synopses For Penultimate Episodes Of The Flash And Arrow Released

30 April 2016 9:32 AM, PDT

The month of May is nearly upon us, and that means it’s time to gear up for the final episodes of our favorite TV shows. Thanks to The CW, we have two official descriptions that allow us to peer into the future of some of the hottest superhero series around: The Flash and Arrow.

On May 17, the penultimate episode of The Flash’s second season, titled “Invincible,” will hit airwaves and it sounds like it will have no shortage of excitement. Expect to see Katie Cassidy play the much talked about Earth-2 doppelganger of Black Canary, who has adopted the moniker of “Black Siren.” It sounds like she will be more villainous than expected, so those of us who have theorized that she will one day crossover to Arrow to join their team may have to toss that bit of speculation out the window.

Here’s the synopsis of said episode, »

I Want To Be Human Review

30 April 2016 8:04 AM, PDT

Just when you think the vampire craze is over, someone inevitably creates a new piece of media to keep the hype train running. Though, to be fair to I Want To Be Human, this is a vampire who opts for a shotgun instead of her teeth, and has a snarky, albeit adorable, hat for a boyfriend.

Why? I don’t know.

Smile Tech is trying to find the secret to eternal life, and the most comfortable hat. They also got around to banning romance at some point, and punished our smitten heroes by experimenting on them. The pair now seek revenge for their new forms, so they’ve joined together to take down the corporation and search for a cure. It’s a silly but fun premise shown through comic book-styled pages, and sets the tone for the title’s specific style of humour. Unfortunately, the story doesn’t go »

Is James Wan About To Depart Aquaman?

30 April 2016 3:59 AM, PDT

Uh-oh, looks like there’s some trouble brewing over in the DC universe. After Seth Grahame-Smith announced that he’d be departing The Flash, we’re now hearing that another director may be looking to make an exit.

Birth.Movies.Death is reporting that James Wan is feeling a “tremendous amount of trepidation about Aquaman.” According to them, “Aquaman needs Wan,” but the director isn’t sure if “he needs that hassle.” Of course, no decisions have been made just yet, and as of now he still remains attached to helm the film. Whether he’ll end up staying on board though is unclear.

Black Panther Battles Bucky In New Captain America: Civil War Clip

29 April 2016 6:30 PM, PDT

Captain America: Civil War has already started opening overseas, but with another week to go until it reaches the Us, fans are understandably desperate to see any bit of footage they can from the highly anticipated first Phase 3 release.

Of course, even if you have already seen the film, this clip is still a must-watch, especially as it gives us our best look yet at Chadwick Boseman in action as Black Panther. The character has been glimpsed in previous trailers and TV spots, but this fight sequence is just downright awesome and gives us a great idea as to what we should expect from the Wakandan hero’s fighting style.

What exactly has resulted in T’Challa going after Bucky is something we’ll learn when Captain America: Civil War is released, but all of the signs are pointing to this movie serving as a perfect introduction for Black Panther »
