Storyline

The feature film The Libertine was incredibly difficult to make, from finding and retaining the incredible cast, to dealing with funding problems including an overnight tax law change in the U.K., to the daily grind of production on a tight budget. Capturing the Libertine asks the question, "If it's this difficult to make independent films, why do it?" Written by Joe Howes

Trivia

This film existed in a nearly-complete form for nearly two years with no interview from Johnny Depp (the filmmakers never got the chance on the hectic set to interview him). On hiatus with Pirates of the Carribean in fall 2005, Johnny sat down with their questions and an assistant and very generously shot one of the best, most personal interviews the filmmakers had ever seen of him - a fascinating, 45-minute glimpse into the character and Johnny's attraction to the part.
