Oh the app itself is great!
I'm giving it a low rating because there is no ability to cut-n-paste text into the search box.
I love IMDb, actually. It's the premier resource for background information about the entertainment industry, and I typically turn to it to read up on the trivia. What my beef is, is that today I had wanted to read up more about an old jazz singer from the 1920's, but couldn't fully remember her name. So I thought I could try out what I thought I could remember. I wouldn't mind putting that much effort into trying to find her.
BUT, you cannot enter the name by pasting the text into the search box from the clipboard. Each and every time I had to spell out the name. Tedious. So, what does that mean? Get off my tablet and get onto my laptop to do an adequate search? Well, then: ANY app that forces the user to resort to an external device to use the app's website can't be that great. Therefore the one star. Check back again, and see if the designers take up this issue. And if there are any others out there who agree with me, click YES for this review.
Fantastic, One Suggestion
I love this app. The interface is easy, the search functions are seamless. The amount of information available is extensive and accurate. I use it daily to widen my movie-based knowledge. With all of that considered, I think that one feature that should be added is a search by year option. Allowing all movies to be organized and sorted by the date and year they were created. This way, for example, a user could look up 1999 and see a complied list from January 1st-December 31st of every movies released in order. I think it would be another great feature and a way to enhance the IMDb experience.
Great Database
The only reason that I choose to rate IMDb at 4 of 5 stars is due to the fact that it does not tell you on all of the possible platforms that you can find a movie or TV show for viewing. I find myself searching for THE movie that I want to watch throughout several streaming or cable/satellite platforms and not being able to find the movie to view exactly when I want to view it. (We do love our instant gratification.) With that said, I have found some movies that I have fallen in love with through IMDb that I probably would not have come across otherwise. I use IMDb at least six days a week. ❤
