Possible Upcoming DC Animated Movies Include Batman/Tmnt Crossover And Swamp-thing

6 hours ago | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Warner Bros. has stuck pretty much solely to Batman and Justice League related animated features in recent years, but it seems as if the success of Batman: The Killing Joke and the recently released Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders may have opened the door to some slightly riskier ventures from the studio. That's according to Wgtc as they're reporting that moviegoers who paid to see the studio's latest animated release earlier this week were handed a very interesting survey. On that, they were presented with a list of possible upcoming releases and asked how interested they would be in each of them. That's clearly a way of guaging interest in the movies by Warner Bros.  Among those mentioned were a Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover, a Wonder Woman '77 movie (presumably with Lynda Carter voicing the titular hero), and Swamp-Thing, a character who will soon get the spotlight »

WB Possibly Planning Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles And Wonder Woman ’77 Animated Films

11 hours ago | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Over the past few years, Warner Home Video has played it safe when it comes to choosing which characters are granted headlining privileges in their animated movies. In other words, it’s pretty much been pared down to the proven money makers: Batman and Justice League. And, while we recently got confirmation that 2017’s direct-to-video animation slate shall be a bit more ambitious, it has nothing on what may follow.

Earlier this week, Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders was given a two-day limited theatrical engagement, allowing fans to view the film ahead of its November 1 Blu-Ray release. What’s especially interesting is what happened at select multiplexes.

You see, an anonymous source close to We Got This Covered was handed a survey and one of the questions included was in regards to certain animated films moviegoers may be interested in seeing. Hey, if you can get Adam West and »

Over the weekend at New York Comic Con, our first look at the upcoming reboot of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers landed online [watch it here]. Many compared it to The Breakfast Club while others pointed out the tonal similarities to Josh Trank’s Chronicle and Fantastic Four. But what did our writing staff think?

Chris Cooper: As someone who watched the original run of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers and still has a Megazord, I’m impressed. Rather than generally confident do-gooders they’ve gone for misunderstood kids with – I assume – the potential to be good. I like this. Rita comes across as Freddy Krueger-esque. I like this. I have no problem with them being strong outside of »

Chris Cooper reviews Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #63…

“Chasing Phantoms” Part 3! With an ally in danger, the Turtles look for a new way to defeat the Street Phantoms. Will the Turtles be able to do what it takes to save the Foot Clan?

If you read last month’s review you’ll know I struggled with the choices that characters were making but loved that the series was still eliciting such strong emotions from me. I was hoping for answers too.

Well this month I get…some.

Tmnt is in a good place at the moment. This main title has picked up again and I’m really looking forward to each month. In fact, quality might be a problem. Idw are so confident at the moment that they’ve started a second title. A title which at the moment I think I’m enjoying more. Tmnt may have the main story »

Mighty Morphin Tweens Defend The Earth In The First Trailer For ‘Power Rangers’

8 October 2016 8:04 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

It’s never quite clear how cartoon nostalgia is going to land. For every “Transformers” there’s an underwhelming “G.I. Joe” or worse, a “Jem & The Holograms” (people seem to like “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” enough to justify some sequels, I guess). So how will Lionsgate’s “Power Rangers” perform next year?

‘Warcraft,’ ‘Central Intelligence’ Take Top Spots on DVD, Blu-ray Disc Sales Chart

6 October 2016 2:50 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Two new releases, fresh off their theatrical runs, debuted in the top two spots on the combined Blu-ray Disc and DVD sales chart the week ended Oct. 2, while the previous week’s top seller, Paramount’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows,” toppled all the way down to No. 6 in its second week of release.

Universal Pictures’ “Warcraft,” a sci-fi actioner based on the popular video game series of the same name, bowed at No. 1 on both the Npd VideoScan overall disc sales chart, which tracks combined Blu-ray Disc and DVD sales, and the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart.

Coming in a close second on the overall disc sales chart was Warner’s “Central Intelligence,” a comedy with Dwayne Johnson. Even though “Central Intelligence” earned more than twice as much at the domestic box office as “Warcraft,” $127.4 million versus $47.2 million, it only sold 90% as many units »

There are also a few cool parties floating around…and you know how I love a good party.

Everyone who goes to Nycc has their own unique wish list of what they want to experience while there. But in case you aren’t sure what you want to see first, here are some of the things I’m most looking forward to. Maybe they’ll appeal to you, »

Paramount scored top-selling disc honors the week ended Sept. 25 with “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows,” while Walt Disney Studios snagged the top spot on the Blu-ray Disc-only sales chart with its 25th anniversary edition of “Beauty and the Beast.”

“Beauty” debuted at No. 3 on Npd VideoScan’s overall disc sales charts, which tracks combined Blu-ray Disc and DVD sales. “Out of the Shadows,” the sequel to the 2014 “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” remake, debuted at No. 2 on the Blu-ray Disc sales chart.

Out of the Shadows” grossed $82 million, less than half what the original earned in U.S. theaters. “Beauty,” available only as a Blu-ray Disc combo back (with DVD and digital copy), was the third most-successful film of 1991, topped only by the summer hits “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”and “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.”

Chris Cooper reviews Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #62…

“Chasing Phantoms,” Part 2! One ally close to the Turtles faces grave danger while another makes a choice that will alter his life forever. Meanwhile the Turtles wonder if their path truly lies with the Foot Clan…

I’m left scratching my head. We’ve been with these characters for a long time. Idw’s Tmnt will soon be the longest single run on the characters after-all. So why the hell are some of them doing things that have me screaming at the page!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. It’s great. This cast of characters has a long time to change and grow. They’ve been through so much that it’s bound to make them think certain ways; sometimes very contradictory ways to each other.

It all boils down to one thing. If Mikey was the only one »

Rob Moore Out at Paramount Pictures (Exclusive)

23 September 2016 12:14 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Updated: Rob Moore is leaving his post as the vice chairman of Paramount Pictures, Variety has learned.

Moore, who didn’t respond to requests for comment, has been in his current job since 2008 (and with the studio since 2005), overseeing Paramount’s worldwide marketing, distribution, digital and television arms, and shepherded tentpoles like the “Transformers” and “Mission: Impossible” franchises, “Interstellar” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.” The studio does not expect to fill Moore’s position.

A source close to the situation said that the decision to ask for Moore’s resignation was made by the board of Viacom, Paramount’s corporate parent. Moore had been one of the major proponents of former Viacom Chairman Philippe Dauman’s push for Paramount to sell a minority stake in the company to Dalian Wanda. But after Viacom Board Vice-Chair Shari Redstone successfully orchestrated Dauman’s ouster last summer, the decision was made to »

Monster Trucks Expected to Bomb, Will Lose Paramount $115M

21 September 2016 5:24 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The troubles are continuing to pile up for Paramount Pictures. After a summer that was marred with underperforming, expensive movies for the studio, their parent company has now lowered their projected earnings for the year because of yet another movie that is expected to flop. After a ton of delays and production troubles, the expensive live-action and CGI comedy/action movie Monster Trucks is expected to tank when it finally gets released in January.

The Hollywood Reporter states that Viacom, who owns Paramount, has lowered its earnings forecast for their current quarter. The company has posted a $115 million "programming impairment charge," which is "related to the expected performance of an unreleased film," which is just a nice way of saying that movie is about to bomb in a big way. While Viacom didn't come out and say exactly which movie it was, THR's sources have confirmed to them that it is indeed Monster Trucks, »

Honest Trailer For Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows Isn't Kind To Casey Jones And Company

21 September 2016 8:24 AM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

If you didn't like the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, chances are the sequel would have done nothing to change your mind despite the inclusion of a number of fan-favourite characters. Out of the Shadows brought the likes of Krang, Bepop, Rocksteady, and Casey Jones to the big screen, and while it was definitely watchable, it still wasn't the movie most fans of these characters actually wanted to see.  If that's how you feel about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, then you'll love this Honest Trailer as it takes aim at pretty much every new and returning addition, not to mention the fact that the four heroes in a half shell aren't actually ninjas! Wanda, Sony in talks for film pact

20 September 2016 10:45 PM, PDT | ScreenDaily | See recent ScreenDaily news »

According to reports Dalian Wanda Group and Sony Pictures are far advanced in talks to strike a marketing partnership that may lead to investment in select titles.

The development marks the latest bold play by Dalian Wanda chairman and China’s richest man Wang Jianlin, who has already established a firm foothold in Hollywood and other international film institutions.

If consummated, the deal, first reported on Wednesday by Deadline Hollywood, would see Wanda lend its promotional might to the Chinese release of certain studio films.

It is understood that could include summer 2017 tentpole Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Furthermore, it is believed Wanda might invest in certain films on the Sony slate, giving rise to what would be a powerful co-financing ally.

Wanda helped promote Paramount’s release in China of Transformers: Age Of Extinction and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows.

The Chinese real estate and entertainment titan has been investing heavily in the global film business »
