HBO Launching 'Game Of Thrones' Talk Show 'After The Thrones'

15 hours ago | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Over at AMC, the network has been busy maximizing the brand value of "The Walking Dead" as much as possible, launching the spinoff series "Fear The Walking Dead," and live talk show, "Talking Dead." And now, HBO is taking a page from their rival's playbook. The network has announced today the launch of the talk show, "After The Thrones." Hosted by "Watch The Thrones" podcast team Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan, episodes will be available on Mondays on HBO Now, HBO Go and HBO On Demand, as well as on HBO proper. And given that the network won't be sending anything to press, everyone will be in the same boat as Greenwalk and Ryan break down the latest events, and try to predict what will be coming next. It's a smart move by HBO (frankly, I'm a bit surprised it look them this long), and only serves to grow the »

How do you breathe life into a 21-year-old murder case that took over the TV airwaves and was watched by more than 95 million people? This was the task that screenwriters Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski faced when adapting Jeffrey Toobin’s bestseller The Run Of His Life: The People V. Castle Recap: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

When it comes to Castle‘s Ryan-, Esposito- or RySpo-centric episodes, the reactions tend to be mixed — those who judge the episode based on its own merits versus those who bristle against anything that steals Caskett time. But given how Season 8 as a whole has been a, um, special animal when it comes to  Rick/Kate interactions, perhaps this look at a romantic blast from Javy’s past will be assessed more fairly.

Blindspot Review: Any Wounded Thief

5 hours ago | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

We’ve gotten small hints of progression here and there, but we’ve been badly overdue since the mid-season premiere for an episode of Blindspot with a strong focus on Ashley Johnson’s Patterson. That changed tonight, so let’s take a look at this week’s new episode, “Any Wounded Thief.” The bulk of the drama in this episode comes from two characters: Agent Weller and Patterson. In the beginning of the episode, Weller arrives home to find that his sister has moved out with his nephew after her breakup in the previous episode, and this just compounds Kurt’s emotional struggle that he’s already going through

Dancing With the Stars Week 3 Recap: Did the Right Couple Go Home?

Just when I’m starting to feel cynical about the current season of Dancing With the Stars, Tom Bergeron & Co. find a way to melt my cold, icy heart.

Though I’ll never be entirely convinced that Latin Night is the correct Week 2 theme for a gaggle of amateur dancers, even the most inexperienced contestants find a way to impress during Week 3’s “Most Memorable Year” celebration — and what they lack in technique, they more than make up for in raw, unbridled emotion.

Indeed, even if you were severely distracted during the final six-and-a-half* head-to-head showdowns of The Voice‘s tenth season — organizing your tax receipts or folding laundry or contemplating the reasons for Adam Levine’s cotton candy-hued tresses — the mismatches were screamingly obvious.

Billions Review: Hero Wanted, No Chucks Need Apply

7 hours ago | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Let’s start with the obvious: this was the best episode of Billions by a wide, wide margin. It featured the most deft writing, the most engaging performances, and solid directorial work. It finally managed to write a scene with banter that didn’t sound like a room full of people trying to imitate an Aaron Sorkin movie. It even finally managed to make me give a crap about any of the traders in Axe Capital! This is what happens over the course of a season. This show was always in steady hands, with experienced writers like Koppelman and Levien and an in-the-now journalist
