Marvelous DA7E: Strange Shuma Gorath Sighting?

14 hours ago | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Did you guys see that Doctor Strange Lego set leak?

Last I checked it was still up on The Independent over here, but it’s in the process of being scrubbed like other too-early product leaks. Check it out, it’s Mordo, Strange and Wong in the Sanctum Sanctorum with some big tentacles coming out of a portal in the wall.

Before discussing what that means, a moment of well-earned disclaimers about Marvel Lego sets. Most of the time these sets are assembled around the general concept of the film, not from specific plot points. There was an Iron Man 3 Lego set that had The Mandarin battling Iron Man in some sort of tank. There was an Ant-Man lego set that showed Scott Lang Ant-Man fighting Yellowjacket with the aid of Hank Pym Ant-Man. Those things did not happen. On the other hand, all the McU-based Lego sets I »

So X-Men: Apocalypse hasn’t lit the world on fire. Sitting in the awkward place between commercially and critically beloved (Captain America: Civil War) and commercially and critically disappointing (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Apocalypse was lost in the superhero shuffle, being neither good nor great. ‘X-Meh’, as Slash Film’s review so succinctly put it.

But no fear, Captain Hindsight is here! Oli reckons he knows how the overstuffed, underdeveloped plot and characters of X-Men: Apocalypse could have been better served: split the film in two, a la the final Hunger Games and Harry Potter movies…

Why superhero fatigue isn't necessarily the problem

Are there too many superhero movies? And are audiences getting bored?

Minor spoilers for X-Men: Apocalypse and Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice lie ahead

At the start of the year, it seemed that the big comic book movie hits were relatively easy to call. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, X-Men: Apocalypse and Captain America: Civil War were the safe bets (each, coincidentally, around the 150 minute mark, and major interchanges in their respective franchises/universes/whatever we're calling them). Deadpool would make a profit, given that its budget was modest. Suicide Squad looked more of a gamble, and Doctor Strange arguably moreso.

We're four films into the superhero-infested waters of blockbuster cinema this summer, and already, it feels as though things have changed just a little. Batman V Superman has fallen just short of $900m in worldwide box office takings, a disappointment against what was expected, »

Will Warcraft Obliterate Ninja Turtles 2 at the Box Office?

7 June 2016 12:39 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Paramount's Teenage Mutnant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows had no trouble topping the box office last weekend with $35.2 million, Although, that total was less than half of what 2014's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles opened with in 2014, when it debuted to the tune of $65.5 million. Tmnt 2's reign will most likely end early, going up against three newcomers, Universal's Warcraft, Lionsgate's Now You See Me 2 and Warner Bros.' The Conjuring 2. If our projections are correct, then Warcraft should have no trouble coming out on top this weekend.

While exact theater counts have not been given yet, Box Office Mojo reports that Warcraft is expected to debut in an estimated 3,400 theaters, while The Conjuring 2 is expected to open in approximately 3,100 theaters and Now You See Me 2 is set to debut in 3,000 theaters. Of these three new releases, only The Conjuring 2 is a hit with the critics, »

Wolverine 3 Gets Titled Weapon X, Is Not Old Man Logan?

7 June 2016 11:44 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Nearly a month ago, it was confirmed that production has begun on Wolverine 3, with recent photos seemingly hinting that this final Wolverine movie will actually be adapted from the Old Man Logan comics, which has been rumored for months. We still haven't gotten any official plot details at this time, but today a new rumor has surfaced, which not only claims that this story won't be based on Old Man Logan, but reveals the new title. If this report is true, Wolverine 3 will actually be called Weapon X.

Of course, 20th Century Fox hasn't confirmed this report from Gamezone, which claims to have reliable sources. We'll have to wait and see if director James Mangold or star Hugh Jackman will respond to this report, though that seems unlikely. If this title is confirmed, it's possible that this story could tie in to last month's X-Men: Apocalypse.

Rumour: Wolverine 3 to be titled Weapon X

7 June 2016 9:53 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Warning: the following article features spoilers for X-Men: Apocalypse

Over the past few months, many fans have been lead to believe that Hugh Jackman’s third and final Wolverine solo film would be an adaptation of one of the most popular comic book storylines involving the character, Mark Millar’s Old Man Logan. However, if the post-credits scene for the recently released X-Men: Apocalypse hinted at anything, it’s that the next Wolverine installment may instead be built around the Essex Corporation and Weapon X.

Despite being in production currently, Wolverine 3 still doesn’t have an official title, which has only added to fans’ speculation about what story the movie will be telling, but now, sources close to Gamezone have revealed to the site that the movie will be called Weapon X.

Obviously, the news should be taken with a grain of salt, especially because many rumoured titles end up being false, »

Why Rose McGowan is wrong about that X-Men: Apocalypse image

Kirsty Capes on why Rose McGowan is wrong about that X-Men: Apocalypse image…

I’m sure most of the internet / Marvel fandom has seen Rose McGowan’s rant about a rather unseemly X-Men: Apocalypse promo shot over the last couple of days. If you haven’t, here’s a quick run-down of what happened:

Rose McGowan, of 90s Charmed fame and now a political activist and writer, has put Marvel and 20th Century Fox on blast this week for including this shot of Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) being strangled by bad guy Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) in their marketing material for X-Men Apocalypse:

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, McGowan said:

“There is a major problem when the men and women at 20th Century Fox think casual violence against women is the way to market a film. There is no context in the ad, just a woman getting strangled. The fact »

Tnmt Struggles, Adds Pressure To 'Beyond'

Paramount Pictures focused more on quality rather than quantity for the summer blockbuster season. But it might have settled more for just lower quantity."Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" struggled at the North American box office over the weekend, barely beating out "X-Men: Apocalypse" on its second week, and delivering some serious bad news to the executive offices of Viacom chair Philippe Dauman. The sequel from producer Michael Bay earned just $35.3 million domestically on its opening weekend, and $69.3 million worldwide. It slipped past "Apocalypse," which earned $22.8 million to bring its two-week total to $117 million. The weekend total for Tmnt fell below studio and market estimates, and helped Paramount whimper into the summer movie season that still awaits its remake »

‘Finding Dory’ Could Be Pixar’s Biggest Opening

6 June 2016 1:33 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Finding Dory” is on pace to give Pixar the biggest opening in its history when it hits theaters on June 17. The sequel to 2003’s “Finding Nemo” is eyeing a debut of between $115 million and $120 million, a massive number that should help reinvigorate a sluggish summer box office.

“We’re pretty bullish on it,” said Shawn Robbins, senior box office analyst with BoxOffice.com. “It’s way ahead of pace in terms of where other Pixar releases have been. Given ‘Finding Nemo’s’ status as a modern classic, it’s going to be huge.”

It’s a return to form for the animation company after last fall’s “The Good Dinosaur” became the first Pixar release to lose money. Prior to that rare misstep, the studio had developed a reputation for quality and commercial success that has rarely been equaled. Its hits include “Wall-e,” “Inside Out” and “Toy Story,” films that »
