Submission Protection

What is Submission Protection?

Our Submission Protection policy allows you to receive a 100% refund of your Submission Fee, if:

  • You decide to withdraw your Submission within 5 days of submitting your Work.
  • Your Submission (physical copy of the screener - e.g. DVD/Blu-Ray) is lost in the mail, is not tracked by the Competition within the WAB Service, or is not received by the Competition.
  • The Festival to which you submitted your Work does not take place or gets de-listed from Withoutabox during the applicable Submission Entry period.

How much does it cost to buy Submission Protection?

Buying Submission Protection is completely optional. It costs 1.35 for all Submission Fees less than 30 units of currency the Submission Fee was paid in, and 4.5% of Submission Fees for fees greater than 30 units of currency. These fees are standard across all supported currencies. Please note, the fee for Submission Protection is non-refundable.

How long does it take to process refunds if I purchased submission protection?

Typically, refund requests are reviewed within 24-48 hours. Once approved, Withoutabox will issue a refund to your original form of payment and currency. Funds will appear in your account once processed by your financial institution, which usually takes 3-5 business days.

Discount Packs

What are Discount Packs?

Discount Packs are optional, giving you the ability to receive discounted Submission Fees when you know you are going to submit to several festivals. They are offered for both Film submissions and Screenplay submissions. Film Discount Packs are priced differently from Screenplay Discount Packs (see below for more details).

How do Discount Packs work?

When you buy Discount Packs, you receive a Discount Pack balance that is applied as you submit to festivals. For example, if you pay $100 now to buy a Screenplay Discount Pack, you will receive $120 in discount credits, giving you a total savings of $20 on your future submission fees. When a regular entry fee is $55 and the festival offers a $5 discount, you will pay just $50 for that submission. Your Discount Pack balance of $120 will decline to $115, which can then be applied to other festivals until the balance is spent.

Discount Packs are valid for 1 year from the original date of purchase or when your discount balance reaches zero. Discount pricing on submissions does not take effect until after you pay for your Discount Pack.

Note that when you apply Discount Packs to festivals using currencies other than USD, you will receive a discount of 5 units in that currency (e.g.: when you apply to a festival that has a standard submission fee of 40 EUR you will pay 35 EUR). For all submission currencies, 5 USD will be deducted from your Discount Packs credit. Before using your Discount Pack for Submission Fees in currencies other than U.S. dollars, be sure to check the applicable exchange rate. If 1 unit of that currency is convertible into less than $1 US dollar, savings will be impacted accordingly.

How much do I save using Discount Packs?

Discount Packs are for heavy submitters who know they are going to submit to a lot of festivals (e.g. more than 25 submissions) charging Submission Fees in US dollars or Festivals accepting supported units of currency more valuable than one US dollar. For example:

  • Film Discount Packs will save you $25 if you plan to make about 37 submissions (assuming average submission fee of $50) or save you $100 if you plan to make about 100 submissions.
  • Screenplay Discount Packs will save you $20 if you plan to make about 24 submissions (assuming average submission fee of $50)
