Warner Bros is Bringing Pan to Blu-Ray in December

11 hours ago | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

Pan may have only hit movie theaters last month, but today Warner Bros. has revealed that the blu-ray will be landing just in time for the Holidays with a bundle of special features as well.  Come inside to learn more.

Critics and audiences didn't respond all too favorably with the new Peter Pan movie, so perhaps that's why the film is getting a blu-ray release just two months after it's theatrical debut.  Today, WB revealed that Pan will hit blu-ray on December 22nd, just Barely in time for Christmas (if you're looking for a last minute stocking stuffer).

Discover how Peter got to Neverland when “Pan” arrives onto Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital HD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. From director Joe Wright (“Atonement,” “Pride & Prejudice”) comes “Pan,” a live-action feature presenting a wholly original adventure about the beginnings of the beloved characters created by J.M. Barrie. »

DC Weekly: Should You Watch 'Supergirl'?

14 hours ago | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Welcome to the DC Weekly, where every week we cover DC news, TV show reactions, editorials, and random speculation.

This week, I take a dive into the world of the "Supergirl" TV show.

"Supergirl" had everything going against it for me. I admittedly have a general lack of knowledge of the character, and between "Gotham," "Arrow," and "The Flash," and the upcoming "Legends of Tomorrow," I had little desire to add another DC show to ever-growing queue. Worst of all, the show had CBS going against it, a network that makes it incredibly difficult to have access to their shows. As a cable-cutter, I only have access to shows on Hulu, Netflix, and HBO Now (I had to splurge on something). CBS, however, requires to either sign up for their individual service or watch their shows via their Ram-eating website, and considering it's 2015, I tend to prefer watching my TV shows on my couch. »

Supergirl episode 3 review: Fight Or Flight

Supergirl's potential is huge, but the show isn't quite flying yet. Fingers crossed it will really take off once a few issues are fixed...

This review contains spoilers.

1.3 Fight Or Flight

I've been reluctant to criticise Supergirl these past few weeks, primarily because of the avalanche of petty digs and ill-informed opinions that will be coming its way until at least its first season is over. But the truth is that it's a bit of a mess. A charming, well-intentioned mess, but a mess nonetheless.

We begin the hour where we left off, with Kara's interview with Cat Grant not going entirely her way. The chat results in a semi-scathing article painting Kara as the worst kind of millennial wanting attention without really having anything to back it up, and revealing to the world that she is in fact Superman's cousin.

That revelation, as if no »

Peak Inequality: Investigating the Lack of Diversity Among TV Directors

10 November 2015 10:00 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

One. Zero. One. Zero. One.

That is the number of women of color who directed episodes of television in the 2014-2015 TV season at AMC, FX, HBO, Netflix and Showtime, respectively.

Only one zero is needed for “Bones,” “Supernatural,” “NCIS” and “Law & Order: Svu.” Between 2010 and 2014, not a single woman of color directed any of those long-running dramas. Yet in the same time frame, “Grey’s Anatomy” hired 21 non-white women to direct.

When it comes to the issue of diversity in Hollywood, non-white women are the proverbial canaries in the coalmine. A meaningful commitment to inclusion will mean they are hired regularly, along with white women and men of color. Their near-absence hints at much deeper institutional problems in the TV industry.

The DGA says more than 3,900 episodes of scripted television were churned out last season. But Peak TV has not led to peak diversity behind the camera.

TV Directors and Diversity: Executives, Showrunners Julie Plec, Greg Berlanti Speak Out

10 November 2015 9:55 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

For an in-depth story on the quest to diversify the ranks of television directors, Variety spoke with dozens of industry professionals and is posting transcripts of a selection of those interviews. (Here are links to the entire series of interviews related to the story on directors and diversity.)

These excerpts from interviews with executives and showrunners have been edited and condensed.

Julie Plec, executive producer, “The Vampire Diaries,” “The Originals,” “Containment” (earlier this year, Plec directed an episode of “The Vampire Diaries,” which was her first experience in that role)

What’s funny is, I was always certain that I couldn’t be a director because there are things about the physics of camera and lighting that I fundamentally cannot wrap my head around. And so I thought, “Well, if I can’t be great at every aspect of that job, then why would I do it?” Enough people over »

‘Mysteries of Laura’ Gets Order for 3 More Episodes From NBC

9 November 2015 12:04 PM, PST | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

NBC has ordered three additional episodes of “The Mysteries of Laura,” TheWrap has learned. If no additional episodes are ordered, that would bring executive producer Greg Berlanti‘s sophomore drama’s total Season 2 order to 16 episodes — six short of the typical 22-episode season. NBC has been tinkering with the season lengths on several of its shows in recent weeks. Freshman series “Superstore” and “Hot & Bothered,” both slated for midseason, were cut in October from 13 episodes to 11. Last week, “Blindspot,” which on Monday became the first new series of the season to earn a Season 2 renewal, had »

'Blindspot' Nabs Early Season 2 Renewal at NBC

9 November 2015 11:05 AM, PST | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

Blindspot is staying put at NBC. The top-rated new series of the fall season is also the first to score a sophomore renewal. The network handed out the early order on Monday afternoon.  The drama continues to follow the trajectory of time slot predecessor The Blacklist, which earned its own early vote of confidence after its strong post-Voice showing during the 2013-14 season. Of course, Blindspot's ratings are now well above The Blacklist's. The Greg Berlanti-produced series has been an exceptional performer, both on Monday nights and with delayed viewing, averaging a 3.7 rating

‘Blindspot’ Renewed For Season 2 at NBC

9 November 2015 11:04 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

NBC has handed a very early Season 2 renewal to “Blindspot,” the network announced Monday.

The No. 1 new show this fall, “Blindspot,” which debuted Sept. 21, was also the first of the season’s new series to land a full-season order. Airing at 10:00 p.m. Monday nights, the action-packed drama has dominated its time slot over the first seven episodes, averaging a 3.7 rating in adults 18-49 and 12.7 million viewers overall. It has consistently dominated its ABC and CBS drama competition in key demos, and has been a very big gainer in delayed viewing too.

Starring Jaimie Alexander (“Thor: The Dark World”) as a beautiful woman with no memories of her past who’s found naked in Times Square with her body fully covered in intricate tattoos, the show follows her discovery, which sets off a vast and complex mystery that immediately ignites the attention of the FBI, who begin to follow »

NBC has renewed freshman drama “Blindspot” for a second season, the network announced Monday. The show from creator Martin Gero and executive producer Greg Berlanti has proven to be both a ratings and critical smash. Since its Sept. 21 launch, the series has dominated the 10 p.m. Monday timeslot. Arrow season 4 episode 5 review: Haunted

Here's what we made of the now-defunct Constantine crossing over with on Arrow in season four episode, Haunted...

This review contains spoilers.

4.5 Haunted

I didn't watch Constantine. I feel like it's best I get that out in the open before attempting to write about Haunted because, as much as I enjoyed the episode and as excited I am about the precedent it sets for the shared universe in general, I have zero prior knowledge of the character aside from one pilot episode half-watched over a year ago. But, yeah, Constantine was in an episode of Arrow, guys. What a world we live in.

First and foremost, I was kind of impressed with how the episode wasn't entirely constructed as a way to bring in the character, but rather the character was slotted into this point in the season pretty seamlessly. Yes, he was given a fair bit »

The Flash season 2 episode review: The Darkness And The Light

Thanks to The Flash multiverse, Barry gets a new, inappropriate father figure in episode five of The Flash season 2...

This review contains spoilers.

2.5 The Darkness And The Light

When The Flash introduced the multiverse, it was either going to complicate things beyond recognition (a suspicion I still have in light of the many speedsters still to be introduced) or it was going to build on the madcap fun the show's first season had already nailed. This episode, in which we get reacquainted with the man formerly known as Earth One's Harrison Wells, proved that it's going to be the latter.

So Wells is back, but this time it's not Eobard Thawne or nice-guy scientist Harrison Wells, but 'Harry' – Earth Two's leading metahuman tech entrepreneur, father and arch-nemesis to Jay Garrick. He might not be entirely homicidal like his evil doppelhanger, but that doesn't mean he's a nice guy, »

Ratings: Fox’s ‘MasterChef Junior’ Opens Season a Winner Friday

7 November 2015 9:15 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Fox has been a non-factor on Fridays this fall, but last saw a solid return for the network’s “MasterChef Junior,” which led its hour in young adults. There was little movement elsewhere on the night, though ABC’s “Shark Tank” looked a little healthier and remained the top series in key demos.

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, “MasterChef Junior” averaged a 1.3 rating/5 share in adults 18-49 and 4.1 million viewers overall; it stands a good chance of rounding up in the finals (currently at 1.34). It led its 8 o’clock hour in the demo over ABC’s comedy block of “Last Man Standing” (1.2/5 in 18-49, 6.8 million viewers overall) and “Dr. Ken” (1.2/5 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall), and also prevailed in adults 18-34 (0.8/4 to 0.7/3 for ABC). With the exception of “Empire,” this would be Fox’s first timeslot victory with an entertainment series this season.

The CW's 'Riverdale' Gives Archie and Friends a Shocking Makeover

5 November 2015 4:26 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Back in July, we reported that producer Greg Berlanti is shifting his new TV series Riverdale, based on the beloved Archie comics, from Fox to The CW Network, where he produces Arrow, The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Very little is known about the show, but the report from this summer revealed it will be a subversive take on the original comic characters and their hometown of Riverdale. Today, TV Line has the first casting breakdowns for the four main characters, Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead, who will be portrayed much differently than previous incarnations.

Archie Andrews is a high school sophomore, who is still a redhead like in the comics, and "boyishly handsome." However, this casting report reveals he is "pumped and looking good" after spending his summer working construction with his father. Archie will be dealing with an influx of new interest from several females, while discovering »

This is not quite your grandma’s Archie comics come-to-life.

The casting breakdowns for The CW’s Riverdale, which currently is a script in development and promises a live-action, modern-day take on the iconic comic book characters (in a town where “secrets, intrigue and scandal abound”), reveal greater muscle mass for our carrot-topped group leader, a stressed-out Betty, scandal-stricken Veronica and new adversity for Jughead to overcome.

Supergirl episode 2 review: Stronger Together

Supergirl sticks the landing of its tricky second episode, providing tons of fun and just the right amount of depth and humanity...

This review contains spoilers.

1.2 Stronger Together

The Supergirl pilot was what it was, and I'd argue that it needed to get out of the gate in a certain way in order to get noticed. This episode, however, is the true test of the show's staying power, and had an even bigger job of putting forward the show's major themes and ideas while welcoming new viewers but not just rehashing the pilot entirely. That, in essence, is the job of any second episode, and Stronger Together was a pretty good example of how to do it well.

After a few awkward exchanges in which people called each other by their full names and relationships, things settled down into an episode that, while having similar beats to the premiere, »

Arrow season 4 episode 4 review: Beyond Redemption

The Sara saga continues in this week's Arrow episode, an hour elevated by some strong performances...

This review contains spoilers.

4.4. Beyond Redemption

Quentin has posed a problem for Arrow writers since the start of the show. They want him to be an antagonist, but not a villain. They want him to be morally ambiguous, but not unlikable. They want many of our main characters to be at odds with him, but also for his emotional moments to land with the audience. These things are all at odds with each other and, as with this week, they're also more often than not happening at the same time.

But without the character, I suspect some of Arrow's strongest episodes just wouldn't be as strong. Beyond Redemption, for example, isn't particularly remarkable on paper, but is lifted by several performances that range from near-over the top to surprisingly nuanced. »
