Why do fingernails grow faster than toenails?

Question

Why do your fingernails grow faster than your toenails? I’ve had a baby and I have to cut his fingernails every two days, but never his toenails.
India, Kilburn

Answer

** Definitive **
Name: Ben, Sidcup
Qualification: Personal knowledge
Answer: It’s related to the Vitamin D we get from the sun. Because our feet aren’t as exposed to the sun as our fingernails are, they don’t grow as quickly. I went to Australia and wore flip-flops all the time and I needed to cut my toenails much more often.
