If you don't have a cover for your book, you can use KDP's Cover Creator to make one based on an image you provide or a selection from our gallery of stock images. Customize with a variety of layouts and font options.

Starting a New Cover

To launch Cover Creator, click on the title of an existing book or click "Add new title." Then click "Launch Cover Creator" in the Upload or Create a Book Cover section. The Cover Creator interface will launch and provide instructions on how to proceed.

Adding an Image

The image you use for your cover will be a focal point of your design, so choose carefully. You can provide your own image or select from the gallery of stock images available.

Images you provide should be of high quality and you must hold all rights necessary to use the image for your book cover.

Choosing a Design

After you've uploaded or selected your image, choose from one of ten base designs. If you can't find an image you're satisfied with, you can choose from cover designs that don't incorporate images.

Customizing Your Layout

Choose from an assortment of font sets, color schemes, and text layouts, or make direct changes to your text and images by clicking on each part.

Previewing and Submitting Your Cover

When you're done designing your cover, preview it to see how it looks in color, grayscale, and thumbnail modes.

Once you're satisfied, click "Save & Submit." Cover Creator will close and your cover will be loaded in KDP's "Edit book details" page.

Editing or Replacing a Cover

To edit your book cover, click "Edit my Cover Creator design." Cover Creator will launch so you can make the necessary changes to your cover. Just like other book detail changes, these changes won't be finalized until you continue to the "Rights & Pricing" page and click "Save and Publish."
