"Hardest Decision I Ever Made" - A Father's Moving Story

Wednesday 1st October 2014

A caller into James O’Brien’s show shared his heartbreaking story about having to decide whether to switch off his child’s life support.

The discussion was provoked by the recent story of a High Court judge issuing an order for a child with irreversible brain damage to have their life-support turned off. The judgement came following a petition from the local NHS trust after the family of the child said they wanted to keep the system on.

John from Cricklewood faced an impossibly hard decision when his first daughter was born 8 weeks premature with a condition that meant she would not be able to sustain her own life.

He shared his moving story about how he dealt with the situation as a father and a man of faith.
