A North Jersey state Assemblyman and Giants fan has apologized after getting grief for calling the Philadelphia Eagles "those gaybirds from Philly."
Not that he exactly said: Sorry, City of Brotherly Love. Or: No offense, Andy Reid and crew.
"I have very, very close relatives who are gay. I have nothing against them. I'm far from that," said Assemblyman Charles Mainor, according to the Jersey Journal.
A Jersey City police detective who was elected in 2010, Mainor said in a Facebook post:
"We are not going to just lay down, we come to play. Who the hell do you think we are the DALLAS COWGIRLS OR THOSE GAYBIRDS FROM PHILLY . . . NO WE ARE THE NEW YORK GIANTS."
