Seven years later, Crazy Cousinz and Kyla’s “Do You Mind” got sampled by one of the hottest rappers in the game.
Drake surprised fans with not one, but two new songs today. Despite a lukewarm reception, “Pop Style” featuring Jay Z and Kanye (The Throne) found itself the number one trending topic on Twitter.
While “One Dance” wasn’t a trending topic, the song definitely caught the attention of folks who love international artists like Wizkid and Kyla. Last summer, Drake remixed Nigerian artist Wizkid’s single “Ojuelegba” with UK grime sensation Skepta.
Crazy Cousinz and Kyla’s “Do You Mind” became a smash hit in the UK when the song garnered popularity as 2009’s most infectious funky house banger. Drake, who’s been frequenting the UK a lot over the past few years, loved the song so much he decided to sample it on his Views From The 6 single “One Dance.”
Take a listen up top and compare the two for yourself.
