Here is the scoop on this mystery offering
22 September 2011 | by (Rosebush) – See all my reviews

Perhaps the language barrier has caused the BIUTIFUL crew to post a nearly-blank stub for their feature's premier extra on IMDb. As a proficient speaker of the English language, I can fill in some of the gaps. This "making of" lasts 21 minutes, 41 seconds. It lists Norma Nebo and Nacho Martin as co-directors. (Whoever posted this stub demoted poor Norma & Nacho to mere camera people, which is the ONLY thing BIUTIFUL director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is credited with on this short itself. Subsequent to this short's production, Inarritu has this listed as another directorial credit on his somewhat thin resume--only 10 other directorial credits, mostly shorts, in a 26-year film career--on his own IMDb resume page, leaving his N&N team in a similar position to when David stole Bathsheba from Uriah: totally scr*wed over). Besides AGI, other performers getting face time as themselves from the feature's cast include Javier Bardem (Uxbal), Maricel Alvarez (Marambra), Hanaa Bouchaib (Ana), Guillermo Estrella (Mateo), Diaryatou Daff (Ige), and Cheick Ndiaye (Ekweme). Perhaps the highlight is when AGI takes Daff--a Senegalese illegal alien living in Barcelona, whom he had astutely cast as a Senegalese illegal alien living in Barcelona--to Senegal to obtain a legal visa, as well as a reunion with her long unseen son.
