Tyrese Gibson, noted R&B singer/action movie star/entertainment polymath, like a lot of people, has an Instagram account. He uses it for a lot of things: goofy memes, inspirational messages, and cute pictures of puppies. But our Instagrams aren’t mere social media accounts; they’re the window to our souls—and deep down, Tyrese wants one thing more than anything else in the whole wide world:
He wants to be the next Green Lantern.
This week in Thirst: The Fast & Furious/Transformers actor has posted no less than 14 works of fan art depicting himself as the DC Comics superhero, accompanying a few of them with messages about how committed he is to landing this role.

As far as timing goes, he’s got quite the head start—according to Warner Bros. big superhero plans, Green Lantern is the last big DC movie on its release schedule, with a 2020 release date—the better to put as much distance as possible between it and the poorly received 2011 film starring Ryan Reynolds.
Whether or not Tyrese is considered for the role, let’s hope that WB also considers using the John Stewart incarnation of the character.
