The Boss May Fall Short Of Knocking Off Batman V Superman At The Box Office

In the world of movies, every weekend represents a battle. When a new movie premieres, it goes up against whatever piece of cinema happens to be dominating the box office at the moment. This weekend sees superhero showdown Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice defending its No. 1 title against Melissa McCarthy’s latest comedy, The Boss. Although early projections had predicted that The Boss would knock Dawn of Justice from its No. 1 spot, new assessments now seem to indicate that the DC film will holds its own – although just barely.   Based upon a recent report from THR, it seems that The Boss is on track to scratch at the heels of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it likely won’t come out on top this weekend. The report projects that the Melissa McCarthy fronted comedy is on pace to earn $21-23 million during its »

New Ninja Turtles Teaser Shows Off Weapons, Reveals Next Trailer Date

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is a sequel that seems to be embracing its source material, as opposed to the first film, which took some serious liberties. Its first trailer had plenty of turtle goodness for fans to enjoy, with lots of inspiration clearly coming from the original eighties animated series. Classic characters from the cartoon such as dumb guy henchmen Bebop and Rocksteady, and the villainous alien brain thing Krang, all have big roles in the movie, but perhaps the most important thing the trailer sells is the humor. Another trailer is about to drop, and its teaser proves that this will indeed be a funny movie about giant, adolescent turtle people eating pizza and doing ninja things.    This teaser comes from the Green Arrow himself, actor Stephen Amell, who plays Casey Jones in the Turtle sequel. Amell has a pretty good social media »

Batman V Superman Will Reportedly Make Less Money Than Man Of Steel

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice must be kind of a mixed bag for studio Warner Bros. It had a recording breaking opening for DC movies and it was the studio.s second biggest debut, but then it had the biggest recorded drop from its opening weekend by 69 percent. The movie might not even make a billion dollars, but Warner Bros. doesn.t seem worried. They.ve readjusted their schedule to include two new untitled DC films, ensuring that they are still moving forward with the Dceu. Despite this show of faith, Warner must be kicking themselves, because a new report has come in stating that Batman v Superman may not even be as profitable as it.s predecessor, Man of Steel.   This report comes from Bloomberg, who claim that while the film is mostly a success, it failed to reach the highs that Warner Bros. was expecting: Batman v »

How The Dceu Will Move Forward Following The Batman V Superman Debacle

Look, whether or not you enjoyed Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the simple fact of the matter is that the film has thus far underperformed during its theatrical run. Although it has set the stage for some great adventures in the Dceu, it has also given the folks over at Warner Bros. some cause for concern. The studio seems to recognize the shortcomings of Batman v Superman, and has set out on a path to correct its course for the future of the Dceu.   Based upon a new report from Variety, it seems that WB has decided to get more involved in the big picture elements of the Dceu: I’m told production exec Jon Berg and Time-Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes are taking more of a hands-on approach now, paying closer attention to overarching story concerns, but someone well versed in both production and DC’s »

5 Times Jake Gyllenhaal Should Have Been Nominated For An Oscar

8 April 2016 7:52 PM, PDT

While Leonardo DiCaprio’s recent triumph suggests all things good come to those that wait, it’s really hard to win an Oscar. History is littered with legendary actors, actresses, directors, writers and producers that somehow never managed to claim one of the coveted gongs.  Just look at Jake Gyllenhaal. Despite being just 35-years-old, he has now had around half a dozen performances that should have resulted in him sat at the Academy Awards trembling with nerves and anticipation over whether he’ll have to make a speech.  But rather bizarrely Jake Gyllenhaal is still yet to receive even a solitary Oscar nomination. That’s a huge oversight on behalf of the Academy. But which roles should have resulted in the actor being acknowledged? Well, to celebrate his performance in Demolition, here are the five roles that Jake Gyllenhaal really should have been rewarded »

The R-Rated Batman V Superman Cut May Be Coming To Theaters

8 April 2016 5:40 PM, PDT

At 151 minutes, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is one of the longest superhero movies ever. Giving moviegoers a main story and plenty of Easter Eggs, the movie essentially paved the way for the expansive DC Extended Universe following 2013’s Man of Steel, but there was still a fair amount that didn’t make it into the theatrical release. Some of that material is being saved for the R-rated “Ultimate Edition” home media release, but now there’s word that this three-hour cut might makes its way to the big screen first. On the latest episode of Heroic Insider, co-host Umberto Gonzalez brought up the rumor that Warner Bros is considering releasing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s “Ultimate Edition” in theaters before it comes out on Blu-ray, digitally, etc. While it’s unclear how many people would see that »

Wolverine 3 Has Found Its Villain

8 April 2016 5:13 PM, PDT

After seven X-Men movies (eight if he really is in X-Men: Apocalypse) over 16 years, Hugh Jackman is giving his final performance as Logan, a.k.a. Wolverine, next year in Wolverine 3. As with his previous two spinoffs, the metal-clawed mutant will be getting into a lot of trouble, and that will inevitably lead to him being pitted against a new adversary. Now there.s word that Narcos star Boyd Holbrook has been added to the threequel as the main villain.  According to a report from Deadline, Holbrook.s character is a "relentless, calculating and intense" head of security for a global enterprises that has his sights set on Wolverine. No name was provided with the description, so it.s hard to discern whether he.ll be an original character or someone from the comics. Either way, if this guy is as skilled and resourceful as the description makes him out »

Captain America: Civil War Reactions Are In, Here's What Critics Are Saying

8 April 2016 2:33 PM, PDT

After months of waiting, Captain America: Civil War finally started screening to select journalists ahead of the first stop on a lengthy global press tour. And because Marvel Studios seems confident in what Joe and Anthony Russo have cooked up, they have removed the socal media embargo, meaning Twitter became a hot-bed for Civil War reactions overnight. So, what did critics and reporters think of Captain America.s third movie, and the first film in Marvel.s Phase Three of superhero epics? Our very own Eric Eisenberg was in attendance at an L.A. screening of Captain America: Civil War and had this to say about the anticipated film: Thrilled to say that Captain America Civil War is a blast. Works great as a Cap 2 And McU sequel, and has Marvel's best action scene yet.. Eric Eisenberg (@eeisenberg) April 9, 2016 Eric.s holding a Cap shield in his hand, so you »

Ewan McGregor Can't Remember His One Star Wars 7 Line, And It's Adorable

8 April 2016 2:19 PM, PDT

Look, we all know that the Star Wars prequels don.t have much going for them. However, they do have one awesome trump card in their back pocket: Ewan McGregor and his portrayal of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. He proved himself so fit for the role that he ended up as one of the few elements from the prequels to make it into J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Despite such an honor, he apparently has a bit of trouble remembering his role in the recent film. Check out the video below to see more.     The man is definitely no padawan when it comes to charm. In a recent clip from The Graham Norton Show, the host brings up the fact that Ewan McGregor actually had a brief cameo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens that not many people picked up on; it takes place during Rey.s »

Major Batman V Superman Scenes Look So Weird Without Their CGI

8 April 2016 1:44 PM, PDT

I.m going to tell you something, and I'll need you to stay calm and not freak out when I do. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is fake. Believe it or not, director Zack Snyder actually constructed most of the enormous film using computer generated images, rather than going out and finding an alien and a billionaire ninja to duke it out with a giant Zod baby. I know, right? A new video has surfaced showing several scenes from Batman V Superman prior to the inclusion of CGI, and it.s just plain weird. Check it out below.     That video makes you realize just how important the post-production period is for a CGI heavy action spectacle like Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Essentially a montage of before and after shots, the video showcases numerous moments throughout the film . primarily during the two third-act fights . and compares them before »

The Tomb Raider Reboot May Happen Sooner Than We Thought

8 April 2016 1:31 PM, PDT

There have been a lot of rumors lately surrounding Warner Bros. and its movie-making plans going forward. After the record-breaking drop of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the studio is supposedly looking to focus more on its tentpole branded franchises like Harry Potter, Lego and the DC superheroes, in order to produce better quality films. One of these franchises has been rumored to be a new Tomb Raider franchise, with Daisy Ridley in talks to star. It seemed like that movie was a still a long way off, but new rumors suggest otherwise.   We’ve written about the potential of a new Tomb Raider film, but there wasn’t a script at the time. According to Heroic Hollywood, this is no longer the case. Screenwriter Geneva Robertson-Dworet has supposedly completed a draft of the screenplay that the producers like, and the movie is ready to move »

Why You'll Probably Never Hear Jon Favreau And Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man Commentary

8 April 2016 1:20 PM, PDT

Nowadays when one buys a movie, whether it.s on Blu-ray or a digital copy, they.re not just paying for the movie itself. They.re also getting bonus content, and among the most popular of these are commentaries, where members of the cast and crew comment about the movie and its creation while it.s playing. However, one movie that didn't get this feature was 2008.s Iron Man, and the reason fans will never get to hear it is because an official one was never recorded. During his recent Reddit Ama to promote The Jungle Book, director Jon Favreau was asked about an Iron Man commentary he did with star Robert Downey Jr and if it will ever be made available. This was his response: Robert and I did a live commentary once at the American Cinematheque. To my knowledge, it wasn't recorded. I suppose it would be too »

Netflix Sets Sights On Supernatural Manga Adaptation Of Death Note

Just so I can answer that looming question that always seems to be at the forefront of your mind: no, there.s nothing Netflix cannot do. The streaming giant has become one of the most endlessly reliable sources of content across all genres, and has seemingly no trouble adapting even the most obscure or niche forms of media. Not content with dominating in the field of superhero adaptations, Netflix has also set plans in motion to begin adapting Japanese Manga. In particular, it now seems that Netflix has plans to produce an adaptation of the wildly popular Manga series Death Note with director Adam Wingard at the helm of the project.   According to a new report from The Wrap, filmmaker Adam Wingard has teamed up with Netflix to adapt the beloved Death Note series. Will Spider-Man's Solo Movie Be a Marvel Team-Up?

8 April 2016 11:50 AM, PDT

After over a decade of adventuring in self-contained continuities, Spider-Man is finally being added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe next month for Captain America: Civil War.  Although Sony still has the Web-Slinger.s movie rights, they.re now partnered up with Marvel for his cinematic future following the lackluster performance of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and the Sony email hack. After the third Captain America installment, Sony is taking the reins on the new solo Spider-Man movie, but to keep that involvement in the McU clear, fans can look forward to seeing a few Marvel characters appearing. While touching on Spider-Man.s role in Captain America: Civil War, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told EW revealed that some McU players will show up in the Wall-Crawler.s solo adventure. As he put it: He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and »

7 Marvel Characters We'd Love To See In The Spider-Man Movie

8 April 2016 11:18 AM, PDT

When Tom Holland appears on screen in Captain America: Civil War, he.ll be the third Spider-Man in 14 years. Then, in 2017, he.ll be starring in his first standalone film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, as it turns out, just because the movie will have Spider-Man.s name in it, it doesn.t mean he.ll be the only hero on the screen. The keeper of the McU, Marvel.s Kevin Feige, recently told Entertainment Weekly that other Marvel heroes will join Spider-Man for the movie planned for next summer. This, of course, got our wheels turning. Since Feige specifically talks about characters going "back and forth" between films, it implies that we won.t just get new characters pulled from the comics, but we.ll see some of our existing favorites join the wall-crawler on screen. Here are a few of the heroes, and villains that we.d »
