3rd Annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards Results

5 hours ago | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

Another year, another awards show. I hope you tuned in to the Critics’ Choice Television Awards, because it was a pretty fantastic event. Again, not all of my votes ended up for the winners, and a few of them seem a little questionable to me, but that’s the nature of the beast.

I’m curious where you fit in though. Did the right shows win? Were the right shows even nominated? There were some surprises, like Orphan Black taking home a prize, and there were some obvious choices as well. How’s the mix work for you? By the way, the surprise is only by way of it being a small show with a sci-fi angle, not because it didn’t deserve the win. I mean, that’s a different question…

The Broadcast Television Journalists Association (Btja) tonight announced the winners of the 3rd annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards. »

Two TV juggernauts won extra accolades at last night’s 3rd annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards, presented by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association at the Beverly Hilton Hotel Monday night.

CBS’s The Big Bang Theory — the most-watched comedy both on network TV and on cable — snagged three prizes, including the honors for Best Comedy Series, Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy (Simon Helberg), and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy (Kaley Cuoco, who tied with The Middle’s Eden Sher), making it the awards’ single-most celebrated series.

Cable powerhouse HBO, meanwhile, was cited five times for three different series (Veep, »

Fall 2013-2014 Television Full Schedule With What To Watch Analysis

6 hours ago | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

This year, the fall television schedule is a decidedly crazy beast. I know, that doesn’t seem like the sort of thing that separates any year from any other, but television is in the midst of dizzying spins of theory, and comparisons to previous years show some serious changes.

Most striking is probably the extent to which the big networks are content to leave each other alone. Also noticeable is the unspoken admission that perhaps DVRs exist, and the schedule doesn’t really need to worry quite as much about who is watching what at the exact moment it airs. We’re still pretending to a degree, but there are hints.

At the moment, you’ve only got a quick look, but we will be constantly updating this page as any changes occur, and as the new shows are available for review (sure, we’ve seen them, but we aren’t supposed to “review” them… »

'Ahs,' 'Big Bang,' 'Breaking Bad' and 'Candelabra' Top the 2013 Critics' Choice Television Awards

8 hours ago | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

The 3rd Annual Critics' Choice Television Awards took place last night in a ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel hosted by Retta (of "Parks and Recreation"). The prizes ended up going to an interesting spread of traditional ("The Big Bang Theory") and edgy ("American Horror Story: Asylum") series, with no one network or show completely dominating the night. In the end, HBO topped out with the most wins, five, but FX was right behind the premium network with four, while CBS and NBC nabbed three apiece. Some nice surprises -- "Orphan Black" star Tatiana Maslany, who really carries the lower-profile BBC America sci-fi series by convincingly playing multiple roles, won best actress in a drama, while Michael Cudlitz got the prize for best supporting actor in drama for his very strong turn in the now canceled "Southland." Bob Newhart received the Critics' Choice Television Icon Award, while "Bunheads" was given »

Well done, “Elizabeth” and “Phillip” — you’ve played the part of average American citizens well enough to help your FX drama snag three Television Critics Association Awards nominations.

You might want to call the Kgb for reinforcements, though — The Americans will face stiff competition from the likes of Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, and The Walking Dead, all of which are also up for Program of the Year. AMC’s drug drama, which begins its final run of episodes Aug. 11, also won three nominations overall — in the same three categories as The Americans.

The Best Villain of the Year

10 June 2013 10:45 AM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Eating victims. Feeding lovers to zombies. Being Walter White. All of these depraved acts resulted in some highly entertaining villains during the 2012–13 TV season. But our favorite bad guy from the past year was far more obnoxious. Best Villain: Parks and Recreation's Councilman Jeremy Jamm He never murdered or physically tortured anybody, and yet this self-described "badass wild card" (played by a wickedly blow-dried Jon Glaser) is still the worst for his insidious, real-world evil. He may not haunt your dreams, but this kind of weasel will haunt your actual life. His C.V. of villainy is packed: His questionable pro–Paunch Burger agenda. His miniature-golf outfit. His unauthorized usage of Leslie Knope's toilet. But it was the decision to ruin Leslie's wedding that makes orthodontist and Pawnee city councilman Jeremy Jamm the absolute worst villain of the year — and by that we mean best villain. Not only did »
