not a fan of photos that are more photoshop, than photograph.

I dont think "more photoshop, than photograph" is a fair comment. The only significant changes in Photoshop were bringing down the blacks in the background, conversion to monochrome and some sharpening.

The rest was done with the camera, including the light lines, which were created by a speedlight behind a slatted peice of card.

I don't see any photoshopping - this is what it looks like when you take a picture inside lit by sunlite coming from a window.....The effect may have been stimulated by some curve adjustments - but it need not be the case.

I don't understand what's wrong with Photoshop. If Photoshop an app in the camera was it OK. There are many camera settings that affect how the pictures turns out to be, and that's OK, so what's the problem with image settings using Photoshop. And if the percentage matters, how can you measure it?

I think the image looks just gorgeous, it triggers emotion, at least for me, and I just adore it. Amazing image/photo.

Davross: you needn't justify how you processed your beautiful image. Jealous trolls will invariably attempt to criticize superior work they cannot duplicate.

That's fine... call me a troll all you like. But if you think human eyes actually look like that, and that they weren't HEAVILY manipulated in PS... i have some Arizona ocean front property to sell you... cheap. Looks like a doll. Over done IMO... which is why to me, it looks like more PS than photo.

Not saying it isn't a good capture... I think it is. It's a great subject caught in a great place with great lighting coming in. I just don't like the obvious over-done look of the eyes, and the black paint brush used to erase the BG.

Post the unedited file and lets see what we get.

I think that some photographers need to understand that we live in a digital age. Photoshop is a tool that photographers can use for post production, like Ansel Adams took his own photos to the lab and "edit" them as well (applying stronger contrast, etc.).

You know that people can edit images in a way that you can never know, some do really professional with Photoshop. So what you are actually saying is that the photo is "good" depends on your ability to detect whether it was done in Photoshop or not. But if you can't detect it, is it any better or worse? Is it better to use photographic accessories to enhance the image, is that OK for the image to look less Photoshopy? And if so, what's the differences, because these are not software "tools", so that's allowed?
