Abrams Reveals Badass Origin of Kylo Ren's Ashpit In 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Remember that scene in Star Wars: The Force Awakens when Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) interrogates Rey (Daisy Ridley), suddenly takes his helmet off, and places it onto a strange table of ashes? Director J.J. Abrams just revealed two interesting facts about that sequence.

For starters, Abrams tells Entertainment Weekly, reveals that the ashes on that table are actually the incinerated remains of Ren's vanquished enemies. "The backstory is, that that table has the ashes of the enemies he’s killed," Abrams says. Pretty sick, eh?

But in a cool bit of movie magic, it turns out that the shot of him placing the helmet in the ashes wasn't actually shot for the Rey interrogation scene. That moment was actually shot as part of an earlier sequence- the one where he speaks to the destroyed helmet of Darth Vader. They later felt that the sequence worked better with him leaving his own helmet on, »

Emmerich Talks 'Independence Day: Resurgence': Mothership, And Story

We know that Independence Day: Resurgence, the long-rumored sequel to 1996's Independence Day, is finally coming to theaters this summer. We know that Roland Emmerich is back at the helm, and that the film will once again feature gigantic alien ships hovering ominously above earth. In a chat with Entertainment Weekly, the director spoke about just how gigantic those ships will be this time, as well as about what's gone on in this alternate reality version of earth since the events depicted in the first Independence Day.

In terms of that mothership that we've seen in the film's marketing so far, Emmerich says that this thing will far eclipse the monstrous ships seen last time. "The Mothership comes to Earth. And it spans the Atlantic Ocean," he said.

But what's it doing here? Emmerich says that it's here to escalate the war. He implies that the first film was always »

LexCorp Promises Something 'Big' Is Coming In 2017!

In a viral message to fans of the DC film franchise, the fictional entity LexCorp has taken to its official Instagram account to tease that something major is coming in 2017. That year is going to be a big one for WB/DC, as two of its major tentpoles come out within a few months of each other- Wonder Woman on June 23 and Justice League- Part One on November 17. LexCorp honcho Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) was just introduced to the world via Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

New Trailer and Photos for Steven Spielberg’s Roald Dahl Adaptation of The Bfg is Here!

Walt Disney Pictures has released a brand new trailer along with some new photos from director Steven Spielberg's take on the Roald Dahl classic The Bfg.

Disney’s The Bfg tells the imaginative story of a young girl and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country. The Bfg (Mark Rylance), while a giant himself, is a Big Friendly Giant and nothing like the other inhabitants of Giant Country. Standing 24-feet tall with enormous ears and a keen sense of smell, he is endearingly dim-witted and keeps to himself for the most part. Giants like Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) on the other hand, are twice as big and at least twice as scary and have been known to eat humans, while the Bfg prefers Snozzcumber and Frobscottle.

Upon her arrival in Giant Country, Sophie, a precocious 10-year-old girl from London, is »

Jesse Justifies Lex Luthor's Actions in the Final Act

Batman v Superman has now been out for a couple weeks, and I think it's safe to say that it's suffered its fair share of critical and fan backlash. Many disliked the continuing portrayal of a more flawed and human Superman, and fans seemed split on Jesse Eisenberg's interpretation of Lex Luthor, Superman's arch nemesis in the comic books.

Many simply felt that this was the character they knew and loved, and even some mainstream fans weren't quite able to put together his motives or how someone so smart could do something so stupid, like create Doomsday.

In a recent interview with IGN, actor Jesse Eisenberg explained Lex's "unhinged" attitude, as well as his motives for creating the monstrosity we see in the film.

“I think Lex becomes increasingly unhinged throughout the movie. I also think he’s a guy who has 40 back-up plans and so when one thing »

Check Out This New 'Captain America: Civil War' Concept Art!

It's very possible that Captain America: Civil War holds the record for most concept art shown for a film. Ever since the movie was announced, it seems like we have a new batch every month. We're about a month from the film's release, and that trend continues.

So, if you haven't had your fill of concept art, then feast away!

Captain America: Civil War picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain."

One aspect I think is interesting is »

'Batman v Superman' Director, Cast, and Producers Weigh in On Potential For 'Man Of Steel' Sequels

Not all fans were happy when Man Of Steel 2 turned into Batman v Superman. In the eyes of some, Superman was a character that was well deserving of a sequel, and considering he still had plenty of growth to do as a character, spending half of that time on Batman would only stunt his character development even more.

WB and DC went on to announce an entire slate of DC films, and not a single film was a standalone Superman film. So what does this mean for fans? Will we get another Superman film any time soon?

In an interview with IGN, director Zack Snyder, actor Henry Cavill, and producer Charles Roven weighed in on the potential for future standalone Superman movies.

Zack Snyder was the first to speak:

"I think if we can get a good script, it'd be great to have a standalone Superman movie. I think that'd be fun to do. »

Rumor: Sony Registers More New Possible Spider-Man Titles?

Yesterday, we reported on BBC's report of the potential Spider-Man film title, Spider-man: Homecoming. This was based on a domain that Sony had apparently purchased.

Given that Sony and Marvel really want to take advantage of the character's high school stories, it's a name that's fitting, albeit a bit on the underwhelming side. But, of course, online, stories are relatively straightforward, and if a new report is to be believed, then we may be in for a dollop of confusion.

According to aintitcool, they have received an email from BBC in regards to a few more domains that Sony has reportedly picked up, which only muddles the waters for potential film names.

SpiderManComingOfAgeMovie.com SpiderManGreatnessAwaitsMovie.comSpiderManSuspendedMovie.com

I'm going to have to call Bs on this one. First of all, there's no proof that these domains have actually been picked up by the BBC, but let's assume for the moment that that report is true. »

Benedict Cumberbatch Visits Comic Shop in Full Doctor Strange Attire

Comic book fans are a passionate bunch. We love our stories, we love our characters, and we love it when both make it to big screen relatively intact. Thus far, Marvel has done quite the admirable job of making that happen. They've managed to turn B-list characters like Iron Man and Thor into A-list characters, and even managed to take Z-list Guardians of the Galaxy into the next big thing in pop culture.

Up next on their docket is the supernatural Doctor Strange, a character that promises to take the Marvel Cinematic Universe into a whole new direction. If the past is any indication, Strange seems primed for the Hollywood limelight in a big way. For the past few days, the internet has been littered with paparazzi photos of Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Mads Mikkelsen running through the streets of New York City.

However, instead of a batch of »

New 'Civil War' Bts Photo Shows Black Panther and Winter Soldier 'Dance'

We've already seen Batman and Superman lay into each other on big screen in Batman v Superman. We've also had a chance to see the Punisher and Daredevil's clash in ideals on the small screen in Daredevil this season. And very soon we'll be able to see the Avengers fight one another in Captain America: Civil War.

Of course, we'll get to see plenty of Stark vs. Cap, but given the size of the Avengers, we'll have plenty of other pairings making their way into the film, including that of Black Panther and the Winter Soldier, if this behind-the-scenes photo is to be believed.

Check it out below!

Working out choreography for the dance scene.

While plenty of fans are stoked to see our main cast go head-to-head, the appearance of Black Panther in the film will undoubtedly be one of the film's highlights. We've had a chance to see »

Tom Hiddleston Talks 'Kong: Skull Island'

Actor Tom Hiddleston stopped by Entertainment Weekly's radio station on Sirius Xm to discuss his new film, "I Saw The Light", and talked about his upcoming projects. One of those films Hiddleston gave a brief update on was Universal Pictures and Legendary Pictures' "Kong: Skull Island."

Hiddleston talked about the impressive cast he worked with saying:

"We had maybe the most diverse and talented cast I think I’ve ever worked with as a whole. We were in Hawaii, Australia, and Vietnam. They were all completely different, and eventually they will all look like one homogenous island.”

Hiddleston talked about the directors vision and the premise for the film saying:

"Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who directed it, had this extraordinary idea. I don’t want to spoil too much… But it’s a whole new re-conception of the mythology. It essentially follows a group of disparate travelers and explorers and soldiers who »

Batman’s Knightmare Might Have Been a Possible Future

Was all Batman saw just a dream within a dream? No, apparently the “Knightmare” sequence might have been a future that The Flash had come back to warn Bruce Wayne about. Jay Oliva (Bvs storyboard artist, as well as DC/WB animated films director) recently had a lot to say about what he thought the whole Knightmare thing was about:

"The thing is that, it’s meant to be so kind of subtle, most audiences just think of it as a dream. And it’s meant to be that way. It’s just like in the comics when there might be some shadowy figure standing in the background, you don’t know who that character is until five issues down the line. The main purpose of that in the film – because people will probably say ‘why even have it, if it’s not going to be followed through?’ – I’m going to say: ‘Well, »

Jon Favreau Still Hopes to Bring 'Magic Kingdom' to Life

Jon Favreau has become a major player in the film industry since Iron Man blasted its way into theaters back in 2008. He solidified Marvel’s cinematic universe and has been working his way up the ranks of The House of Mouse ever since. His newest film, a live/computer animated re-imagination of The Jungle Book, is set to hit theaters April 15th of this year, which is only a week and a half away. Little did we know, The Jungle Book is really his exploration of the current state of visual effects for his passion project, “Magic Kingdom.”

Favreau has been working on Magic Kingdom since 2010, and had this to say about it in a recent interview:

Well hopefully now with this collaboration if it works out well we can explore what Magic Kingdom could be. Magic Kingdom is a story I’ve been developing. Michael Chabon wrote the draft about Disneyland coming to life, »

'Speedy Gonzales' is Racing to the Big Screen

This is a sentence I have been dying to write since I was first able to comprehend words; Warner Brothers is making a Speedy Gonzales feature-length film. Thankfully, Speedy will be voiced by Mexican filmmaker and actor Eugenio Derbez. Derbez had this to say about the role:

“In Mexico we grew up watching Speedy Gonzales...He was like a superhero to us, or maybe more like a revolutionario like Simon Bolivar or Pancho Villa. He watched out for the little people but with a lot of bravado and a weakness for the ladies. I’m really excited to be bringing this character to the big screen. And besides being Mexican— my full name is Eugenio Derbez Gonzalez and I have big ears. The casting couldn’t be better.”

The movie, currently titled Speedy, is set to be a heist film that will re-introduce the character to a whole new generation of children. »

Rapper turned actor, Common, has been keeping busy in Hollywood since he first appeared in 2007’s Smokin’ Aces. He has five movies coming out this year alone, but, the one everybody is talking about the most is David Ayer’s film adaptation of Suicide Squad. Like everyone else, even Common himself knows that people want to hear as much as they can about Jared Leto’s turn as The Joker. Common recently gave an interview and had this to say about his director and co-star:

“I’ve gotta say, one of the major reasons I knew it would be something cool and could be special is (director) David Ayer. I love his work. I got to work with him on Street Kings, but then I watched End of Watch and the dude is good, man.I was excited about working with him, being a movie with Will Smith and Viola Davis and Jared Leto, »
