OLY EM-5 and a small telescope, focusing

Hi,

I've tried everything in the last couple of days to get sharp images with my EM-5/m2 and a 480mm birding scope, but I keep getting the mushiest images. With an eyepiece, the scope is very sharp, so don't believe it's that. Here's my setup and what I've done with it, and maybe someone here may tell me what I'm missing..........

The scope is a birding scope, 80mm, f5.6, with a 2" focuser. To this I have attached a 2" male sleeve and a T adapter for my camera. All this on a fairly sturdy tripod.

1) First I disabled 'image stabilization'

2) Next I set the focal length in the camera menu to 500mm (closest menu to the actual 448)

3) Then to manual focus

4) Also using 2 sec. shutter delay for any slight tripod shake

5) Plus I'm using 'peaking' and 'magnify'

6) Finally, focusing with telescope knob

In addition, I've experimented with every other settings iterations I can think of. In spite of all this, the scope just doesn't *snap* into focus on the screen or EVF and I get nothing but mushy, low contrast images. If anyone can tell me if I'm omitting something obvious, I will be eternally grateful. Many Thanks!

Richard
