Ten candidates to vie for five seats in Ridgefield Park

Ten candidates will be on the ballot May 10, running to fill five commissioners' seats, each lasting a four year term.

In addition to the five incumbent candidates running for re-election to the Board of Commissioners, five village residents are running as a slate called The People's Voice.

Under the management of resident Thomas Blumenthal, The People's Voice slate includes Ronald E. Hidalgo, Natalie Quinones, Junior Hernandez, Richard J. Tecchio, and Theodore Tabasco.

Hildago has been a resident of Ridgefield Park since 2001. Although he has a degree in accounting, he is a former auxiliary police officer with the New York Police Department and a member of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

Hernandez, a resident since 2005 and a volunteer with the rescue squad for the past 10 years, is a former Bergen County Housing and Utilities Commissioner. He has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and 22 years experience as a teacher in the New York City public school system.

Quinones moved to Ridgefield Park in 2001 and is a product of the Ridgefield Park school system. She has a psychology degree from Ramapo College and is a community integration counselor for advanced housing. She is also a member of CERT.

Tabasco has been a resident of Ridgefield Park for 25 years and is a retired police officer. He is a community activist with "Rise Up" and is vice president of the Ridgefield Park Junior Football Association.

Tecchio has lived in Ridgefield Park for 32 years and is also a graduate of Ridgefield Park High School. He serves as president of the Ridgefield Park Football Association and is a former president of the Ridgefield Park Baseball Association. He is the superintendent of Suez (formerly United Water).

This year's incumbent candidates are George D. Fosdick, John H. Anlian, Margaret R. Boyd, Adam A. MacNeill, and Hugo R. Poli.

Fosdick has served as mayor for 24 years as well as Commissioner of Public Safety, Engineering, Library, Meadowlands Development, Planning Board, Street Lights and Hydrants. A product of the Ridgefield Park school system, he is also the president of the New Jersey Fire Equipment Company, a former fire department chief and an Eagle Scout.

Anlian is serving his seventh term as Commissioner of Public Affairs, Environmental Commission, Municipal Court, Board of Health, Rent Stabilization, Welfare, July Fourth, Shade Tree Commission, Concerts, Tax Assessment and Village Gardeners. He is a life long resident of Ridgefield Park and a self-employed attorney.

Boyd is the Commissioner of Finance, Rescue Squad, Village Gardeners and Pool Commission. She has been a resident of Ridgefield Park since 1990 and has served as a commissioner since 2005. She is the vice president of S&A; Casting Company, Inc. and the past president of the Ridgefield Park/Bogota Rotary Club.

MacNeill is the Commissioner of Parks, Plazas, Historic Preservation, Board of Recreation, Buildings and Building Department, Zoning Board and Pool Commission. A product of Ridgefield Park schools, he has been a member of the zoning board for 10 years and the planning board for six years.

Poli is the Commissioner of the Department of Public Works, Ambulance Corps, Insurance, Internet and Pool Commission. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and has been a Ridgefield Park resident since 1993. He has served as a member of the Ridgefield Park Volunteer Ambulance Corps since 1995.
