Is it necessary to have focusing motor in lenses if I have it already in camera body?

Hi,

I'm planning to buy a dslr camera without a kit lens and buy a good lens separately.

My supervisor is advising me to buy a camera that has a focusing motor built in so that I could have a option in the future to buy lenses that doesn't have a focusing motor built inside of it and it would cost much less.

I'm considering that advice a good one but when I did some research I found that recently nearly every new lenses are coming with focusing motor built in. So, if I buy a camera body that has already a focusing motor built in then that would be a redundant thing to carry extra load if I buy newer lenses.

So, I'm having a confusion whether to buy a camera body that doesn't have motor built in and buy newer lenses with motor in it or to go with the advise my supervisor gave me.

Also, I want to know which one is the faster in focusing...lens with built in motor or camera body with motor built in.
