Horror writer Eric Heisserer has been tapped to pen Sandman, New Line’s adaptation of the acclaimed DC/Vertigo comic book that has Joseph Gordon-Levitt on board as director and star. David Goyer wrote the treatment and a search was conducted to ensnare a scribe to tackle the ambitious translation in what New Line hopes will be a trilogy. Sandman tells the tale of Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams. The comic book began in the horror realm but quickly made its mark in fantasy and mythology as Neil Gaiman, the author of the series, introduced the Endless, a group of powerful

'Damien': TV Review

At this point, film and TV viewers have stared down enough thwarted apocalypses that we've all become amateur scholars of eschatology when it comes to the number of the beast or Death's arrival astride a pale horse or the cavalcade of disease and pestilence that will herald the End of Days. While hardly a trailblazer in blending theological warnings with demonic thrillers, Richard Donner's The Omen rode a star-studded cast, an eerie demon child, a giddily graphic beheading and Jerry Goldsmith's "Ave Satani" to blockbuster status, three sequels and an unnecessary, nearly shot-by-shot 2006 remake. Premiering on

On Friday, the case was thrown into a jury's hands upon the conclusion of closing arguments. Andrews is demanding $75 million in damages against West End Hotel Partners, the owner of the local Marriott near Vanderbilt University, and Windsor Capital Group, the company that managed the hotel. 15 hours ago

Now that Sony has set Spider-Man on its rebooted path, the studio is setting its sights on other Spider-Man franchises. Case in point: Venom. Sony has tapped Dante Harper to pen a script for Venom, something that is being envisioned as a franchise apart from and unrelated to the upcoming Spider-Man movie in the works with actor Tom Holland. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, among stewards of the Spider-Man properties, are producing and overseeing the project. Could O.J. Simpson Be Tried Again for Murder?

The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story has drawn the U.S. television audience back into the one of the most infamous criminal trials of our time, but that interest could pale in comparison to speculation sparked by a former Lapd officer who turned in a knife that he claims was found on Simpson's former property and could be the missing weapon in the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman. If this knife is indeed that missing knife, what does it mean for the murder investigation?  The Hollywood Reporter asked USC law professor and criminal defense attorney

'House of Cards' Binge-Watching Guide: The Best Way to Consume Season 4

[Warning: While this article does not contain spoilers from Season 4, it does contain spoilers from Seasons 1 through 3 of House of Cards.] House of Cards helped to transform the way people consume TV. Why? Because from the start of the Frank and Claire saga, viewers coudn't stop streaming. Witnessing Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) toss Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara) in front of a train isn't an episode to pause after; that infamous threesome with Frank, Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) and Meechum (Nathan Darrow) left fans disturbed and yet wanting more. In a show where murder happens as casually

O.J. Simpson: Three Craziest Elements of the Knife Discovery

Revived interest in the O.J. Simpson criminal case reached a fever pitch on Friday when Los Angeles police announced a knife had been recovered from the property of the former Brentwood estate belonging to the football and movie star.  The knife, not described by police, is now undergoing forensics testing to determine if it has any connection to the murders of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman.   Possibly even more fascinating than the knife are the circumstances surrounding how it was found and who was in possession of it for all these years. Here are the three craziest elements of Friday's

Why 'The Walking Dead' Should Kill Glenn This Season

[Warning: This story contains spoilers from The Walking Dead comic book series.] Don't shoot the messenger here but The Walking Dead's Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) should be killed off this season. We're not saying that he definitively will be; our argument is that the AMC zombie drama would be wise to follow the events of Robert Kirkman's comic book series and off the character during its current sixth season. For the uninitiated, Glenn is killed off in the landmark 100th issue of the comics in the most savage fashion: by Negan, who picks the former pizza delivery boy out

AMC's Carmike Deal: Justice Department Review Could Impact Licensing of Blockbuster Movies

AMC Theatres' $1.1 billion deal to acquire the Carmike theater chain will potentially result in the biggest theater circuit around the world. It could also give the U.S. Justice Department an opportunity to reshape licensing practices for first-run films. After completing the deal, AMC will have more than 600 theater locations in 45 states across the country. The U.S. Justice Department will now commence a review on competition grounds. Some analysts expect that AMC could be forced to divest some of its theaters where there is especially high market concentration — for example, AMC agreed to do this in

'Once Upon a Time' Cast: Expect "Fun Surprises and Unexpected Encounters" in 100th Episode

When "Once Upon a Time"’s 100th episode airs on March 6, things will be very different, yet eerily similar. As co-creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis teased to The Hollywood Reporter earlier this season, the Underworld is a twisted version of Storybrooke, filled with dearly (and not-so-dearly) departed characters from the show’s five seasons. According to the fairytale drama’s core cast — Ginnifer Goodwin (Mary Margaret/Snow White), Jennifer Morrison (Emma Swan), Josh Dallas (David/Prince Charming), and Lana Parrilla (Regina/The Evil Queen) — there are going to be many ghosts from the past with “unfinished business” sending everyone
