Tamron is a Japanese company, founded in 1950, that manufactures photographic and industrial optics. As well as its own-branded designs, it makes many optical units for compact digital cameras, and produces lenses for several of the major SLR manufacturers. Tamron lenses are mainly available in Canon and Nikon (and increasingly Sony) mounts.
Tamron makes a range of lenses for both full-frame and APS-C SLRs. The
lineup consists mainly of zooms, including wide angle, telephoto,
superzoom and F2.8 designs, but with some macro primes thrown in for
good measure.
